Message 37190 - Posted: 11 Mar 2010, 2:36:42 UTC

Matt tried to start up some new searches (and looked like everything went wrong yet again). I've removed those and will start up some others (that shouldn't have any problems). I'll be meeting with Matt to go over the process of starting searches again so we stop having these problems. --Travis

Thanks Travis.

Welcome back.

It always has to happen when I'm away. I was in Atlanta all last week for my uncle's funeral and wake, and this week is spring break :P

Never fails, lol.

The problem turned out to be an error with the server code, and not a human error. We have fixed the error, so things should be running smoothly now. :)

I hate to say this, but the de 11-13 series does not seem to crunch on my video card.

5830, it just runs up the time but never actually does anything.

The de_s222 units crunched just fine though.

On HD4870 de_13_3s_... taking 9 minutes (instead of usual 3-4) and last minute (at least) I watched % done counting from 107% back to 100%.
Now task marked as ready to report.
Another task with same marking started, 1:30 elapsed already - still zero progress.
Should I abort such tasks or what?
[already 2:30 passed w/o any progress, still at 0%]

Update: after ~8mins sitting with 0% it moved to ~131% and started its progress back to 100%. So task will be finished eventually but in rather strange manner ;)

I encountered the same thing where the task completion was %0.00 for 2.5 minutes and then suddenly began to decline from %147 to %100. They were valid work units though. Still encountering some. I pmed Travis about the issue.

Check fisrt your account to see if wu gives you points and is validated.
That's the case for me. Whatever the way counting is going, my wus are running.
So I keep crunching.

Same here with my HD 4850. Except I can't say if the s222 would crunch because my card was kind of stuck. It seems the card was busy 'doing nothing'... :-(
The screen was flickering but the WUs just wouldn't crunch on... *sigh*
I reset MW and put in NNW for now. Hope there's a fix soon.
Lovely greetings, Cori

Something new I noticed - no GPU here, just a Xeon L5520, but that probably makes it easier to see what happens as it happens a bit more slowly ;-)

The new WUs cross the 100% easily. One has been at 141% after 3:45 and now starts to go backwards (currently 135%, it lost 5% within the last 5 minutes), some other WUs are not showing progress at all after nearly 3 hours.

I will let it run though (unless beeing told to abort it) - they all haven't crossed the average runtime of previous results yet.

p.s.: The 140% result is de_14_3s_free_5_82853_1268435031, those stuck at 0% are 11_3s and 12_3s ones.

p.p.s.: I do have a few valid 11_3s, 13_3s and 14_3s (const and free) already, so they are not necessarily doomed ;-)

just checked web logs - no errors, no invalids.
that is, all those strange tasks are done eventually, but going from zero to >100% and then counting back looks weird (one more reason not to open boinc manager at all ;D )

I have alot of CPU WU's failing after a few seconds lately. One of these is de_13_3s_const_1_939236_1268561995 It starts out at about 100,04% and then fails at 100%
Boinc says they are completed but on the website it says Completed, marked as invalid.
Any ideas?

Have also one of these results
de_13_3s_free_5_904778_1268558667_0

after 2 hours progress bar with 0%

6 days till deadline, so enough to finish I hope.

edit:
a checkpoint file is written.

Ok i have also a strange problem with the WU´s.

Should we stop crunching for the moment? Or is it just a problem with the % information?

Hello All! Anyone else receiving mostly "invalid" wu's and getting no credit? I've reset, detached and reattached and it's still going on since yesterday :(
Is admin aware of a problem?
Thanks

It seems most wu's are fine but a few have errored. It is being discussed here: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=1600. If you are using the optimised app a new one was put out that fixes the % problem. The link is in the same topic.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.
