Kinda wondered about this, but I thought ahh what the hell, something different for The Cafe...

You love this or you hate it - many say they hate it when in company of others, but in private they love it :)

If you have not seen Irish Dance before, this one broke the rule book, and took the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 in Dublin, and overnight the whole World, by Storm - Irish Dance has never been the same since.

The choir for the first two minutes will not to be everyones taste, sit through it, the spectacle at the end is worth it. .... for most anyway :)

Eurovision 1994 - Riverdance - Where it all began

Dude, how can you go past Anne Buckley singing this?

It's an ethnic thing. But hey, i've got a right to be white, AND be proud of my heritage like anyone else.

That's what Celtic dance is about. Ooops, and song.

ahhh - but I am an ignorant Englishman with still a lot to learn about the Irish :)

I loved that routine at Eurovision tho, I can remember it as if it was yesterday. I have become aware since, that it was apparently a bit of heresy in traditional Irish Dance terms, so I hope I have not offended any traditionlists

My wife is a Scottish Country dancer and did point out the difference in approach by the Riverdance team V Traditionalist to me.

It has had one effect tho in the long run, it did make me far more aware of the whole genre of Irish Dancing, and I now watch with interest at both ends of the genre, albeit with a distinct lack of knowledge and expertese on the topic :)

That-was-beautiful .... seriously, not kidding ..... not heard her with the song before sung that way - which will probably illustrate my need for further guidence on Celtic Singing :)

I love listening to Celtic Woman, could listen all night to them. I dont know enough about the traditional side of Celtic singing to know if they are viewed as "true" or "commercial"

What's white,
got to do
got to do with it?
What's white,
but the presence of all colors of the spectrum?

To the tune of a non-white song. :P

Eh? I thought we were just born with it. You know, like, your soul randomly wound up in the white body born to two white folks who mated, etc. ... . Where's all this "rights" stuff coming from?!?
