Downloaded a fresh 1.17 WU. Running fine so far, but the progress bar seems to be not working (still at 0% after 5 minutes). ;)

EDIT: Progress bar suddenly jumped to 100% and the WU finished after 8:21 minutes.
Here's the (successful) result. :-)

Yup. It stayed at 0% the whole time and at the end jumped to 100% and the WU started to upload. ;-)

Still fails on PPC Mac.

|Task gs_282_1204736846_14850_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file

"Process creation (../../projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/astronomy_1.17_powerpc-apple-darwin) failed: errno=8"

I have the same issue.

Progress value stays to 0%. Then when units finishes it jumps to 100%.

I am running Boinc 5.4.11 on WinXP Pro SP2 32bit.

I also note that the computer is completing the unit in about half the time when using 1.17 over 1.13.

I can live without the progress info, as long as the science is being done correctly and is valid.

Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope.

we've found the bug and are recompiling. hopefully we'll have a 1.18 out for windows and ppc-darwin tonight. there isn't any problem with the calculations however.

One of my G4 Macs (ID Nº5515) was showing a long deferral when I checked it today, I guess from the recent ‘server timeout’, with some v1.13 tasks ready to report. I did an Update to get things moving again, and after the report was made it downloaded a handful of tasks for v1.17. All of them immediately errored out.

One of my G4 Macs (ID Nº5515) […]

is that a powerpc mac or an intel?

“G4” was Apple’s designation for the PowerPC 74xx series. This particular host has two 867-MHz PPC 7455 CPUs, and FWIW is running Mac OS v10.3.9.

The system is at work, so I can’t tell you exactly what it’s doing at the moment—but it appears to have been very busy this evening, trashing over 350 tasks so far, mostly with astronomy v1.18 now. The stderr output for all of them says:

process exited with code 2 (0x2)
