I was wondering :

What does 100 Mhz do in terms of crunching time per WU. I mean if I downclocked my gpu clock speed from 800 to 700 what is the difference will be in seconds?

Pretty much none here, other projects will see a difference though.

I keep my HD5830 at 600 and see the same time to completion as I do at 1000.

It is a disaster if true!

Why bothering with high clock speed issues ( heat, power consumption and fan noise ) when it is useless !!!!

arkyan was talking about gpu memory clock, not the gpu clock.
Downclocking the gpu mem will save some power and heat too.

I am confused ?

Is it worth it to increase the clock speed or not !!

And how much 100 MHz will make difference in crunching time.

I did as many did here, who have MW as main project.
I increased one of my 4850's the GPU Clock from 625 up to 750 (20%)and this leads to an increase of performance of 18%.
The memory clock I decreased from 993 Mhz to 490 MHZ, which has no influance to the performance. (saves energy and aviod heat)

In the dual GPU rack I could only go up to 700 MHZ GPU clock because of air-flow Problems. (The amount of invalid WU's raises)

So there is difference eventually ...

10 % power = 10 % outcome.

Thnx
