To get new task, I always have to click on the update button. It never gets new tasks on it's own.
Is there a way to fix that?

When you almost run out of tasks Boinc should get new tasks at that point to fill your cache. Boinc does not get one to replace the one you just finished as that is inefficient time usage of the limited number of Server connections. There are a ton of us all trying to connect so making those connections as efficient as possible is key. Boinc also will not auto return your completed units until either you need new work or the deadlines are approx 24 hours away, again to increase Server productivity time.

If you are using app_info.xml file, it might occur, that you are running out of work. I had the same problem. Solution: Create a scheduled task, which runs a cmd file e.g every 6 hours. The command file should contain the following command line:
C:\Program Files\Boinc\boinccmd.exe --project milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway update
The scheduled task then updates milkyway every six hours.

I have a system that has the same issue, it had been running without issue for several months. I installed a new OS drive an installed a clean install of BOINC and attached to Milkyway@home and I have the same "will not update". I verified the disk usage and availability in my prefs.
The log says it checks at 8:02 am and fetches 21 new tasks
Checks again at 8:04 am and says I am at my limit of tasks. All tasks are completed by 11:54 am and the computer sits idle until I return 12 hours later when I log back in, there has been no updates and all the tasks are completed and ready to report. I do a manual update and the process is repeated.
I could double the number of tasks completed in the same amount of time. I would rather not run this project if I have to constantly monitor the queue.
I am not new to this project, but a little support would be appreciated.

I see you are on a later version of the AMD drivers, you could try bringing it down to 11.9 - Versions 11.10,11.11,11.12 do seem to have their issues in BOINCLand, and one common theme (amongst those with issues) is a tendency not to request work in the proper manner.
Cant *guarantee* it will fix the issue, but has worked for many over at Moo, mileage seems to vary from person to person, no clear configuration common factor has appeared yet amongst those who saw a difference. You will lose nothing in speed terms as there are few BOINC related improvements over those later versions, improvements were all games related.
If in doubt, always stick with 11.9, later drivers are a little suspect in BOINCLand - for some people - for some reason.
