Could someone please post a simple App_info.xml file to allow 2 workunits to process simultaneously on an ATI card.

Very many thanks.

Chris

Chris BEFORE you try it check your times and see how you are getting the credits and RAC now with one at a time, then do it again after doing two at a time. In lots of cases two is not better, but in some it is.

The way I understand it is that the GPU crunching time will double. The benefit will come from the several seconds at the end of the WU when the CPU is doing all the final crunching. At that part, the GPU will run the second WU at 100%

@ Nowi - many thanks, appreciated.

@ Mikey - OK I will take care. The reason I wanted to try it is that sometimes I get fluctuating GPU loads from 80-95%, and you can hear the fan revving up and down. I'll give it a try.

EDIT

OK works a treat. HD4770 Card temp still 78C, fan 60%, GPU utilisation constant 97-99%. Running 1 workunit at a time gave

195 secs for 159.86 credit

Running 2 at a time gives

347 secs for 159.86 credit

Which by my maths gives a 12% increase in output :-)))

I had an issue with racing fans on my ATI cards. After much trial and fail efforts, I decided that the only course of action was to manually set the fan speeds for the card (Via the Driver controls in Catalyst). I set my fan speeds to 95 percent, above this point the noise level was quite loud. GPU Temperature remain below 67 Degrees C (Shader Core all other sections are lower), which is acceptable. The constant noise level of the fan are much better than the changing fan noise of before.
