I attached MilkyWay@home to my BOINC client on my home PC, but all I was getting was computational errors. I opened a command prompt, went into the MilkyWay project folder and tried to run the applications manually, and found that milkyway_nbody_0.84_windows_x86_64_mt.exe was trying to use libgomp_64-1.dll and pthreadGC2_64.dll. Those DLL's had downloaded with the program, but they were named libgomp_64-1_nbody_0.84.dll and pthreadGC2_64_nbody_0.84.dll respectively. I fixed it by renaming them, but shouldn't either the DLL's have the correct name by default or the program be looking for the renamed versions? EDIT: I'm using BOINC version 7.0.22, Windows 7 x64. |

The way boinc deals with multifile applications / ones that ship libraries is kind of stupid. It needs to have a name unique to files ever used by the project, but that won't correspond to the actual name of the library. It's supposed to be copying the wrong named dll to the working directory in the slot with the actual name. You seem to be using a BOINC 7.something. Maybe it broke in that release? |
