Just curious if the paper the grad student will write based on results from this project, is for a dissertation, for publishing, or for some other purpose? Thanks! Regards, Bob P. |

Just curious if the paper the grad student will write based on results from this project, is for a dissertation, for publishing, or for some other purpose? probably all three! once everything is up and running correctly we have a lot of research to do - which should result in a lot of publications :) I also am working on my PhD thesis, and part of that will include the work you're helping us do here. |

Also, that's just on the computer science end. The astronomers we're working with will also be taking using the results from this for more publications. At the moment theres a grad student in astronomy and a grad student in computer science (me), working on this, and a few undergraduates. We'll probably be getting another grad student or two. Theres a lot of publication and dissertation opportunities to be had with the work we're doing here :) On the computer science end we're looking into different types of distributed search methods, how internet computing with boinc effects them, and how we can optimize or develop new methods more suited to worldwide computing. Theres even more on the astronomy side - but i don't know too much about that so i'll leave that to one of them. |

I'm the astronomy PhD student :-). Yeah, it will be for all three on this end as well. There will be a lot of publications on the results we get from different data sets of the same structure, data sets of different structures, different models, and even on the method itself. So, as Travis said there is a lot of work to be done, and a lot of things to learn from it. |
