My 7970 had to be RMA'd and in the mean time I reinstalled my old 4890. The card works fine but every WU is erroring out instantly.

Did you remember to abort the old WUs and get new ones?

Of course. Same thing happens with new WU's.

So that problem still hasn't gone away and I guess no one else is sure what is up too. In the mean time I'm running Collatz. That still seems to run just fine on the GPU without issue for over a day now.

IIRC, you have to use Cat 11.6 to get MW to run right on the 4000 series, or at least that's what I had to use for my 4850.

<edit> That will also run Collatz too.

From what I saw, cat 13.1 still supports the HD 4000 series. But if you are running Win XP than the latest version with openCL (needed for MW) for this OS is 12.1

Agreed, in theory, 12.1 should work. However every time I've tried it on XP+ the outcome has been less than satisfying! ;-)

I'm using the 13.1's since AFAIK that is the newest driver that supports the 4xxx series graphics cards. I might install some older drivers and see if that changes anything later this week. My OS is 64bit Win7.

With Win 7 you should be ok as long as you don't go higher than 13.1. Above that you will get openCL problems with the current MW app.
It could help to see a log of a WU that errored out.

You should un-hide your computers (at least temporarily) when you're looking for help troubleshooting. Only you can see the personally identifying/private account and host info, but it lets the rest of us look at the basic characteristics of the host and the tasks it has been working on.

That saves a lot of time and asking you questions we could have figured out for ourselves! ;-)

It could help to see a log of a WU that errored out.

How do I show that? Where is the log located? Selecting a WU and hitting the properties button under the task tab just shows the WU name along with a start time and such with a state of "computation error" FWIW.

Also trying older drivers had no effect.

They're unhidden now. I'll leave them that way for a couple of days at least.

Did you reinstall (or repair if offered) the driver after you changed the card?
If reinstall/repair doesn't help, try to deinstall + clean + install.

I did a uninstall and ran CCleaner prior to each driver install. Currently I'm back to the 13.1's.

When I had the 7970 in I was using the 13.2 and 13.3 beta's without issue prior to RMA'ing it for quite a while.

You are running an I7 with 16gb of ram and are running:
<core_client_version>6.10.58</core_client_version>

Have you considered upgrading Boinc too? You can see the difference in version 7 as well as download the latest version here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6698

I am running 7.0.58 on one pc and it seems to be running just fine, I have NOT tried 7.0.59 yet though.

In that link it looks like the versions you're talking about are still very much beta. Not interested in beta testing BOINC itself.

Version 7.0.58 is not the recommended version, 7.0.28 is, but the former is stable and runs well with a few GPU tricks 7.0.28 does not sport ...

Exactly and that was my point, YES they are still Beta versions, BUT they bring things to the table that the 'release' versions do not, and one of those things could be exactly the thing that is causing the problems. That is ALSO why I included the link to the forum, so you could the changes from version to version and see for yourself the changes.
