New computer running Windows 7 Pro. 4 core i5 processor. NVIDA GeForce GT 635 GPU came factory installed. Questions: 1) If I decide to install another GPU, will it help my numbers - that is .. does MW support multiple GPUs? and 2) Would I have to install an identical GPU or is it OK to mix/match? TIA |

TIA Easy answers...1)yes and 2)no! More technical answers...yes all projects that support gpu's support multiple gpu's. More gpu's on your account means better numbers! There will be hurdles of course, but they are NOT insurmountable, LOTS of people do it! One of which could be your power supply, you will most likely have to upgrade it too, especially if it is a store bought off the shelf pc. As for being the same gpu no that is not a requirement, in fact alot of people have an AMD and an Nvidia as their two gpu's. Having the same gpu can make life easier though as you only need one driver, BUT some projects have problems with two Nvidia gpu's in the same box. The best thing is to buy the gpu YOU want and then figure out how to make it work at each project you crunch for. Obviously here at MW you will need a dual precision(DP) gpu, but both AMD and Nvidia make those. Do some research into the DP capabilities of each gpu you are thinking about before you buy though, newer is NOT always better in the DP world. |
