Hi all, It's killing me that my new R9 390 won't crunch GPU work units. I'm told this app_info.xml needs to be created and saved somewhere? I'd appreciate some help on doing this for a Win7 64 bit system. Thank you |

I can give it a try I suppose. Following app_info.xml is just for MilkyWay Separation Modified Fit with GPU, 4 tasks simultaneously. <app_info> <app> <name>milkyway_separation__modified_fit</name> <user_friendly_name>Milkyway@HomeSeparation(ModifiedFit)</user_friendly_name> </app> <file_info> <name>milkyway_separation__modified_fit_1.36_windows_x86_64__opencl_ati_101.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>milkyway_separation__modified_fit</app_name> <version_num>136</version_num> <platform>windows_x86_64</platform> <avg_ncpus>0.1</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.1</max_ncpus> <flops>2e11</flops> <plan_class>opencl_amd_ati</plan_class> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>0.25</count> </coproc> <dont_throttle/> <file_ref> <file_name>milkyway_separation__modified_fit_1.36_windows_x86_64__opencl_ati_101.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> You need 3 files with that: - milkyway_separation__modified_fit_1.36_windows_x86_64__opencl_ati_101.exe That you should be able to find here: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/ (scroll down...) - parameters-15-3s-sim-fast-unconstrained.txt - stars-15-sim-1Aug1.txt That should be in the BOINC data folder already (\projects\milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway\) You can find a complete app_info.xml for MW@H (to play around) here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pdract04jyf697e/app_info.xml?dl=0 Good luck, app_info stuff can be nasty. |

Hmm firstly thank you for taking the time to reply! It's greatly appreciated. Secondly...yes all that is rather scary for a novice like me. VERY unnerving. |

Or, what's wrong with this setup? :) You're talkng about, and your BOINC client has found, a file called app_config.xml But the file contents you have posted are appropriate (more-or-less) for a file called - as the opening tag suggests - app_info.xml Always refer to the documentation: Application configuration Anonymous platform I think you want the second of those. |

Your're quite right, I'm not used to these config files and it happens that I'm mixing them often. Renamed in app_info.xml, will see, server seems having problems right now. Thanks for pointing that :) |

For linux+ati recent model, thanks to cyrusNGC_224@P3D for his app_info.xml from here, which just does exactly what I needed; just changed version of latest apps and voila :) |

It's killing me that my new R9 390 won't crunch GPU work units. I'm told this app_info.xml needs to be created and saved somewhere? Hey Chooka, I figured it out for Windows 10 x86_64, but the instructions should be the same for Windows 7. The easy way is to:
2. Shutdown the BOINC client 3. Extract the contents of the ZIP to C:/ProgramData/BOINC/projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway. 4. Start BOINC again.
