Hey Everyone, Thank you all for your patience over the last week. I can say server maintenance is now concluded. The BOINC libraries on the server are up to date, and we have the newest available version of Ubuntu running on the server. We added HTTPS to the website so we recommend using that while you browse to best protect your personal information. Finally, maybe with the updated BOINC server libraries, the server will recognize some of the newer GPUs that support double precision (Not entirely sure about this point though). Thank you everyone for your patience and happy crunching, Jake W. |

I'll test the GPU detection when I get home from work! |

Still says Milkyway@Home: Notice from server ATI GPU R600 (R38xx) does not support OpenCL 6/3/2016 12:52:51 AM On an R9 290X. :( Other projects detect its OpenCL and whatnot just fine, I don't get why this project still doesn't. :( |

Ubuntu 16.04 amd64 AMD APU A10-7700K KAVERI BOINC 7.6.31. I've had this same problem for a while, since before your recent shutdown, and still have it. I've seen from other threads that it's a rather old one! It's a shame, since I now have einstein@home crunching GPU units with OpenCL quite happily. However, this only got working following some good advice from Aaron Puchert over there. Seemingly the Ubuntu libclc packages are currently out-of-date (0.2.0+git20150813-2), but an update is available from 'git clone http://llvm.org/git/libclc.git'. This did the trick for einstein. I don't know if this is relevant to milkyway or not, but might provide a clue. |

R9 390 here, no work, it keeps asking for more. But gets nothing. Thinking of calling it Oliver. |

Thanks for testing for me. Not sure why it doesn't recognize them. I wonder if I need to try updating the client side libraries and recompiling. I'll put this on my to do list for later in the Summer. The list is quite long at this point. Sorry this attempt at a fix didn't work. Jake W. |

Is anybody experiencing problems with downloads from the server? I seem to be getting random downloads of gpu work units and they are not constant like they should be. The random downloads are several hours apart and I am only getting about 25 work units to do at a time. Sever status says everything is running but I am getting this problem on my computers with the r9280x gpu's. Any clue? Dartanian. |

I have been tweaking the configuration files because some users have been complaining they aren't getting enough work units to crunch. This should have increased the number of work units you can download along with the frequency you can ask for more. I am unsure why you guys are having trouble, but I will look into it. Jake W. [edit] Found the problem and fixed it. My fault, sorry. [/edit] |

problems again with downloading as well as uploading of work units for my r9 280x gpu's on all 4 of my computers again. This time I am getting computation errors when doing the gpu work units. The server reports everything is online and working but something is clearly wrong. All 4 computers started experiencing these issues at the same time. I don't think that the problem is on my end. I have tried resetting the project on one of the computers with no luck, still having the same problem. Was a change made to the servers which is causing this problem? P.S. Some gpu work units are working just fine but the majority of them just come up with computation errors plus I was doing nothing on my end to make this problem occur and the only thing I was doing was monitoring the work units on the computers when this started happening today. note: all video drivers are up to date. |

Hello Peciak and Dartanian, Looks like both of you guys were having computation errors for the same reason as Thunder yesterday (The server was passing out the wrong application). This problem was solved yesterday and since I don't see any new computation errors in your work units since then I don't think there is anything to worry about. If you guys get any new computation errors today let me know. Jake |

Thank you for your response on this issue. Everything seems to be in order as of now. If anymore problems occur with the issues to the related subject I will let you know. Again....thank you for the response. |

I just got one of the ne RX 480s today(my R9 290X exploded) and my client says it is requesting ATI/AMD GPU units, but ultimately receives none. Earlier today I was running an R9 270X and it got units, so I don't know if the server is just not sending me any, or if there is some problem. But I'm not getting an error whenb I request like I was with the 290X. |

Zanth, Not sure why you aren't receiving work units. I will look into it a bit when I get into the office on Monday. Jake |

No problem. I just got the new card and thought I'd see if it detected better and post my findings. |

Just as an extra when you get to checking, here's some info you might want/need. Log lines: 7/3/2016 2:49:44 PM | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 7/3/2016 2:49:44 PM | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU 7/3/2016 2:49:45 PM | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks And the PC in question is Host ID 500392. Thank you again, I'll mess around with a few more things and see if I can't get it to work. |

I think its hopeless, it's back to: 7/3/2016 2:55:55 PM | Milkyway@Home | Message from server: ATI GPU R600 (R38xx) does not support OpenCL Def. something in the detection on your end. When I load up BOINC the GPU detection log says: 7/1/2016 10:08:06 PM | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics (driver version 2079.5 (VM), device version OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2079.5), 8192MB, 8192MB available, 5935 GFLOPS peak) Don't know if that will help at all. Sorry for three messages in a row, I probably should have just edited. |
