Message 6854 - Posted: 27 Nov 2008, 4:51:40 UTC - in response to Message 6851.

Getting the same thing here now, 1500WUs reported ready to sent at the time of this writing. Just trying to use the new 0.4 app, although I was getting the same error with my 0.3 app.

I've been trying to debug the assimilator, it's been crashing from some random seg fault that i haven't been able to track down. thats why the work has been scarce for the new app.

All right, good to know it's not me. :P

<message>
process exited with code 22 (0x16, -234)
</message>
<stderr_txt>

Any ideas?

MilkyWay Client is not working on 64bit Ubuntu Linux 2.6.27-7 on AMD Quad-Core Opteron 1352. I recieve a computational error on all WU's. Got the same thing on my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 running 64bit Ubuntu Linux 2.6.27-7.

Any Ideas?

Forgot to add a piece of info --> the message from BOINC Manager:

Oh, and it's a 32bit machine.

Still not me? 6700 WUs ready to send, still getting the "No Work Sent" error message, in red no less. As if it isn't obnoxious enough already... >_>

I can get work, but all WUs error out. I tried with both 0.3 and 0.4 versions and always get the same error message. I must be doing something wrong...

This is the app_info.xml file I'm using:
<app_info>
  <app>
    <name>milkyway</name>
  </app>
<file_info>
  <name>milkyway_0.4_i686-pc-linux-gnu</name>
  <executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
  <app_name>milkyway</app_name>
  <version_num>0.4</version_num>
  <file_ref>
    <file_name>milkyway_0.4_i686-pc-linux-gnu</file_name>
    <main_program/>
  </file_ref>
</app_version>
</app_info>

Should the app name be different or something?

Just to be thorough here too, here's my latest app_info. Still gives the No Work Sent message.
<app_info>
<app>
<name>milkyway</name>
<user_friendly_name>MilkyWay@Home Optimized</user_friendly_name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>milkyway_0.4_i686_apple_darwin</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>milkyway</app_name>
<version_num>41</version_num>
<platform>i686-apple-darwin</platform>
<api_version>6.3.1</api_version>
<file_ref>
<file_name>milkyway_0.4_i686_apple_darwin</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>
</app_info>

It has tabs too for readability, but they don't show up in [ code ] tags.

Message 6921 - Posted: 28 Nov 2008, 21:45:01 UTC

I'm getting WUs now, and they are crunching fine.

Finished one in 25m37s using version 0.4 of the code downloaded from the site (i.e., not compiled in my computer by myself) and my app_info.xml previously posted.

Machine is a Pentium IV 3GHz, 1GB RAM, running Ubuntu Hardy 32bit.

One question: The original application used to blaze to completion after passing the 50% mark. This one doesn't. Is this to be expected?

It was me... although not directly. Somehow, the "Run test applications" preference got reset to No, even though I know for a fact I had set it to Yes. Anyway, WUs downloaded, crunching with 0.4.

boinc is probably estimating the time wrong. if you let a few of them run it should fix it.

It is expected behaviour.

When someone runs opt app, duration correction factor (DCF) makes estimation of run times correct. But when estimation on project side comes within reasonable times again (ie. stock app with good task estimation), DCF still takes place.
You can eighter manually reset DCF to 1 or let BOINC to correct itself - but it would take some times as Travis mentioned.

OK... after the last update of the zip files v0.6 works now on windows but only on nm_stripe_79.

It doesn't work on nm_stripe_86 and crashes here "current_probs = ia->r_steps * ia->mu_steps * ia->nu_steps;"

That's due to the fact that the app cannot get/read input for "stream_integrals" :(

My PC's are all out of work and the server keeps sending a message back of "No Work Sent".. I've reset the project and was hoping it would just download the files I need for the new app (assuming they are required now), but it's not working...

How do you compile the new app in for Windows?

I run a Win XP Pro quad and I detached from MW (having completed all WUs) and then reattached. All client files and work downloaded OK.

to reply to myself....

double calculate_progress(EVALUATION_STATE *s) {
	long total_calc_probs, current_calc_probs, current_probs, i;
	INTEGRAL_AREA *ia;

	total_calc_probs = 0;
	current_calc_probs = 0;

	for (i = -1; i < s->number_cuts; i++) {
		if (i == -1) ia = s->main_integral;
		else ia = s->cuts[i];

		current_probs = ia->r_steps * ia->mu_steps * ia->nu_steps;
		total_calc_probs += current_probs;
		if (i < s->current_cut) {
			current_calc_probs += current_probs;
		} else if (i == s->current_cut) {
			current_calc_probs += ia->r_step_current + (ia->nu_step_current * ia->r_steps) + (ia->mu_step_current * ia->nu_steps * ia->r_steps);
		}
	}

	total_calc_probs += s->total_stars;
	current_calc_probs += s->current_star_point;

	return (double)current_calc_probs / (double)total_calc_probs;
}

What's "s" ? Shouldn't that be "es" ?

And the red one will get you into trouble when compiling linux/unix 64 bit apps if you're assumption that "sizeof(long) = 8" which isn't true...

gcc on an x64 system, sizeof(long) = 8
windows on an x64 system, sizeof(long) = 4

I just did that and it worked... it says it's running the Optimised 0.04 app though, shouldn't it say 0.06?

Gotcha. Will we have to detach from the project and reattach again or will it work automatically?
