If that's the cast then whatever, wish you guys (Dev's) would have been around at the start of BOINC when we crunched for Month's at SETI without a single Credit because of Validator problems, never once was there any attempt to make up the Credits which counting for Inflation would be Millions today ... hahaha ;)

Only 12h? This is kind of a joke...

Robert-this is finishing the remainder of a promise we made awhile back. 12 hours is the remainder of what we owe the users.

Sarcastic Mode On:

Actually it is a Joke, just what Scientific Formula did the Project use to determine what was Owed the Users as the Project puts it ??? I'd like to know so I can bring it up at other Projects that Owe the Users for being down since one Project thinks it Owes the Users for being down.

Actually the Formula needs to be revised Upward if your going to Pay the Double Credits for being Down. More like about 6 Month's to a Year of Double Credits would be more realistic since the Project goes down for days if not weeks at a time.

Also do we need to give back the Credits we got from the other projects while the Milkyway Project is down, I really need to know because I wouldn't want to feel like I Owed the Projects for Credit I got from them while MW was down & now am going to reap Double Credits on top of it.

Sarcastic Mode Off:

Really isn't that what BOINC is all about, 1 Project goes down you move on to another Project & continue onward with your Crunching or hasn't anyone figured that out yet :P ...

EDIT: Another Question, which side should the Switch be on 1 or 2, from reading 2 is the Default side & 1 the Overclock side unless I read it wrong ... ???

...... 12.1 Drivers, what are release day RC drivers ???

Thats your problem. 12.1 does not support 7970s. You need the AMD drivers release for 7.XXX. The problem is its now the brave world of OpenCL, and to get the 7970 running OpenCL apps, you need the drivers they released when 7970s were released. Those drivers do not support CAL, as CAL is officially dead. So the new drivers are native OpenCL written for the new GCN architecture of 7970s. Without them, and running 12.1, the card just sits and cycles doing nothing because its looking for OpenCL support and can only see CAL which it doesnt understand - or doesnt seem to. DNETC have a CAL app nearly running on a 7970, but I'm not convinced they will finally do it ... see what happens ..

Guru3D are carrying them, these are the next version after the release day set - its an RC - Release Candidate - set, but they work fine

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=2844

Load those up, and you should be fine. I copied my app_info below just in case:

The 12.1 Drivers did run the Collatz Wu's as I ran a few of them but then realized they wouldn't get Validated. I tried Slickers app release and the Wu's took 3 times as long to run as they did without the app file.

I'll try the Drivers & app file you suggested although the app file is the same as I was using. I'll get back in awhile & let you know how it worked out ... Thanks

Already have plans in the works, Free Copies of Win 7 Professional courtesy of a friend ... ;) ... Just need to find the time to convert all the Box's or at least a few to be able to run the 7970's properly ...

XP support was dropped from the latest SDK release

One way or the other Microsoft will get it's Blood Money from the Masses ... :P

What puzzles me is then why even have XP 32 & 64 Bit Drivers on the 7970 CD & it shows installing the SDK Drivers too if their not going to work ???

The only Drivers I've been able to get to install for Win XP 64 Bit is the ones that came with the CD. But those are worthless really, 600x400 or something like that mode only with no use of the CCC Panel. Trying to resize the Screen with the Display Properties just results in a Blank Screen.

Any other Drivers just give BSOD after 5-10 Min's & takes 10 Min's to boot up into Windows. May have to reluctantly go to Win 7 or just forget about Upgrading to the 7970's ... :/

I finally picked up several VisionTek HD 7970's, trouble is the Drivers won't install for Windows XP 64-Bit, I tried the 12.1a Drivers for Win XP 64-Bit & Drivers directly from the VisionTek Site for Windows XP 64-Bit.

All that installs is the Install Manager as far as I can tell, looks like the Drivers are there but not in the System where they need to be ... Getting ready to pull the Card out for now ...
