Does anybody know what's going on? I have no uploads no downloads and the server status page is all garbled up. The whole project on my end has been down since yesterday on all of my computers.

Kwartet,

What's the directory path under windows 10? I cant seem to find projects\milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway even though I did find the file for BOINC.

Fyi: I am only running one project....not multiple ones.

Also I have created the file and saved it under the filename "app_config.xml" you mentioned but boinc looks for the filename "cc_config.xml", are you sure you have the correct filename?

How do you run more then one WU on R9 280x video card? I was told its possible to do it but I have no idea how to accomplish this as I am still learning the ins and outs of the boinc program and how it functions.

Thanks.

The only thing I am seeing on my end is a severe drop in "average credits" across the board on all of my computers. But all 5 computers are still pushing hard on the work units just fine for MW@H. I am not experiencing any slowdowns or waiting for work units to arrive. Although I was having a problem with my network end which contributed to the loss in "average credits". "Average credits have stabilized on two of my computers and are going back up.....the other three are still dropping even though there pumping out the work units given to them madly. If this continues I will try to do a project reset on them and see if anything changes.

problems again with downloading as well as uploading of work units for my r9 280x gpu's on all 4 of my computers again. This time I am getting computation errors when doing the gpu work units. The server reports everything is online and working but something is clearly wrong. All 4 computers started experiencing these issues at the same time. I don't think that the problem is on my end. I have tried resetting the project on one of the computers with no luck, still having the same problem. Was a change made to the servers which is causing this problem?

P.S. Some gpu work units are working just fine but the majority of them just come up with computation errors plus I was doing nothing on my end to make this problem occur and the only thing I was doing was monitoring the work units on the computers when this started happening today.

note: all video drivers are up to date.

Is anybody experiencing problems with downloads from the server? I seem to be getting random downloads of gpu work units and they are not constant like they should be. The random downloads are several hours apart and I am only getting about 25 work units to do at a time. Sever status says everything is running but I am getting this problem on my computers with the r9280x gpu's. Any clue?

Tom, thanks for the reply. Now I know that when I get the new AMD R9 280x to just shut that one GPU down.

I have three rigs that are running a (AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics [Family 21 Model 16 Stepping 1]
(4 processors))

combined with

(AMD Radeon HD 7500/7600/8500/8600 series (Devastator) (512MB) driver: 1.4.1848 OpenCL: 1.2)

Basically I believe it just called a APU.

The GPU works just fine on every WU except for:

(Milkyway@Home Separation (Modified Fit) v1.36 (opencl_ati_101)).

And I keep getting (error while computing) for this type of WU and of course the end result is it fails.

Is there a way to get the GPU to run this type of WU correctly.
Is there a config file that I need to use to get this WU to run correctly.

As I stated before I am no expert but any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Didn't know if anybody was going to respond to the post.

I now realize that that trying to combine the AMD R9 280X GPU card with the A105800K APU will not work on the same work unit and that it will just be a separate GPU work unit and that's fine......if I can get my system to recognize both GPU's. And if I can I can still increase the amount of credits that system will get with double the GPU's.

Thanks again for the input.

I'm getting ready to purchase a r9 280x gpu card for the mw@home project. Can I combine it with my A10 apu to increase performance or should I use the r9 280x gpu card by itself?

Also, will I need to make a config file for using the r9 280x card or will the boinc manager recognize it without me doing anything?

So I noticed that a lot of people go with the Radeon R8 280x series for doing work units, seems to be the choice graphics card. I was wondering will a Radeon R9 290x series work just as well if not better and does the amount of video memory play a factor on the card for doing work units for milkyway@home?

Thank you in advance for any help in direction you can point me in.

Thanks for the response. I will do as you said and look at other users computer to see which is mostly used and go in that direction.

So I'm in the mist of doing upgrades to the pc's I'm running work on and need some direction here from you experts, so I have some questions and hope you can help answer them.

In terms of doing work on Boinc projects which is better to use: Nvidia or AMD? According to the first message on this board either will work but I'm looking to get more bang for my buck if you know what I mean.

If Nvidia, what should I be looking at when choosing a videocard, CUDA cores or CORE clock?

If AMD, what should I be looking at when choosing a videocard, CORE clock or STREAM processors.

And does video memory play a role with either card with projects?

Like I said, I'm no expert but I'm learning :-)
