Had a task error out after 104 seconds and a computer reboot with "Error reading into stream_integrals"; for app 0.04 series nm_test 26 on a Win32 1.4 GHz Celeron M using BOINC 6.1.9.

I'm occasionally getting work, but I'm getting 'ghost' WU's more often.

(How can I tell? M@H's cache is 20 WU's at any time, but my host task list shows 30-40 sometimes for a single core laptop...)

So the whole goal of this Project is to make the Wu's faster just so they can make them longer

Yup. Try asking for that at S@H or Primegrid...

I saw a lot of compute errors, with one example having:

Outcome Client error
Client state Compute error
Exit status -185 (0xffffffffffffff47)
...
...
<core_client_version>6.2.14</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
Can't get shared memory segment name: shmget() failed
</message>

And errored WU's- whatever the reason, generally- lower a host's limit.

I don't know about 'deleting', but the closest I've personally come is a request to hide a thread (or post) through the infamous 'Red-X'.

The database crashed the other night, and it's extremely overloaded. I've been running a purge so it's going to be a bit slow until thats done (4 days and counting deleting WUs from the database).

Would the purge finish quicker if you took the project down for a few hours? I can't speak for everyone else, but I'd rather have the project not available for a few hours, after which it runs smoothly, then it not issuing work one minute, not validating the next, and so on in a vicious circle

With Yoda I agree. ;)

In a similar vein, there was a thread on the Technical Board over at SETI that basially said "Shut it down for 10 hours, or have intermittent workunits for over two weeks..." {Mind you, it was for a RAID resync, but still.)

This is the first set of non-simulated data for Milkyway@home for the same reason. We need to show that we can replicate the results using BOINC on non-simulated data before we can move on to other data sets.

So... have all of the Work Units (WU's) thus far been in relation to a 'simulated' Milky Way galaxy?

The usual: No progress %, no memory leaks, takes about 1/2 the time (confirmed by checking claimed cred; 1.13 was claiming ~6.49-6.74 toward the end, this one claimed 3.20673854490288).

I know [i]I'm[/u] not Travis, but I'll try. o-o

Do you forsee running out of work at any given point that would have my machines empty of work?

The 'problem' is foreseeing running out of work. This- or any project- can run out unexpectedly due to power outage, hardware (server, UPS, RAM) failure, building fire, etc...

I personally would recommend having two or three projects ready.
[If the odds of one project at a particular moment is .5 (50%), then two projects at the same moment is .5*.5=.25, and three at the same time is .5*.5*.5=.125=12.5%=1 in 8.)

Hey Everyone,

My name is Dave Przybylo. I'm currently a student of Computer Science at RPI. I joined this project to help get out all the kinks and get everything running smoothly. If you have any problems, let me know.

Welcome to M@H.

On another note, as of this week we have two undergrads working on this project, and on the top of the TODO list is getting the memory leaks fixed and a new version of the application out.

Nice. Thanks for the info.
