beem getting stuttering batches with two of my guys sitting idle now for last half hr

Looks like something weird is going on with the server. There are about 18000 workunits ready to be sent out (which is quite a lot).

What happened to all those???

Tasks ready to send 2,970

Funny how the server status page says that but the server itself says no work available
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Triple Crossfire supported? (Message 51369)

I've been using 2/3/4 way crossfire since day one crunching here and of course it's supported but you have to get your drivers sorted out!
Your computer is showing in your profile as having 2 5870's so you need to get your drivers installed all the way then Catalyst Control Center will see 3way as an option and ask you to enable it, and so 3 cards will also show in BOINC manager.

As for heat issues, well that's always a problem when you start putting multiple cards together. The motherboard you chose doesn't allow for any extra spacing between them so you will have to make sure you have optimum airflow. I just found a case tha I am currently running a 3way crossfire with one 5970 and 5870. it's an Xclio windtunnel, it has two BIG 250mm fans on the side blowing right on the cards and mobo!
It's the only one of my systems that is in a box at all BUT IT WORKS.
My temps are staying right at 80C with all three cores running full load
And it's not very expensive either, but built well enough.

I hear you. That's why I'm not interested in donating cash that will go to more pizza and staplers, but rather actual hardware. The purse strings are probably held by some administrator far removed from the technical concerns of us crunching clients/donors.

I think that the administration of all the hardware is controlled by RPI labstaff and no one as of yet has pushed thru any significant upgrades.
I can't believe it's a money issue either.
They just got a nice 3 yr influx.
All in all this issue has been beat to death over the time I have been crunching here and this project remains my favorite but I have fallen off lately because of all the never ending simple issues that have never been handled.
I think they should make big sticky threads for all the new people to read so you don't have to go thru thousands of postings to find that we have been down this road before!
I commend you for your interest and efforts,I've been there before too!

And it probably wouldn't have happened anyway if Travis hadn't opened up the finished wu cache to 12hrs worth, LOL!

I don't think you can blame XFX for AMD's inability to meet market demand.
I have a bunch of their cards and when I rma'd my second 5870 for fan failure they gave me 5 extra fan assy's so I won't have any waiting at all for a long time on fans for my 5870's!!!
PLUS, I had a fan failure on a 5970 and they sent me new card because they didn't have a replacement vapor chamber in stock.
AND NOW I just received a brand new 6990 because they didn't have any more 5970's !!!(yes, I had to wait a couple weeks for a free 6990, that's something to complain about???)
I didn't even have to "talk nice to them" LOL
My experience with XFX support totally lays waste to all the others) and yep I have dealt with just about all of them)
EVGA was excellant also.

This is just MY experience

AND if I sold you any of my cards YOU GET LIFETIME WARRANTY ALSO!!

( I did not receive anything for this posting either , LOL)

This stat is meaningless unless someone can show me a setting to tweak that will actually directly effect it.
I can't say, "Hey, can someone match this?" because I sure didn't change anything to try to get this to happen, it's just an anomaly.
