To remove old results from our task page it is up to the project administration. "Mikey" sums the situation up very well in the post below this post :-)

I have 504 results "pending validation" and 26 "validation inconclusive" would be nice if you can grant us credit :-)

Mr Hucker that's a shame you find it pointless. I find tasks to run much faster on my GPU compared to my CPU
How much faster? I can't see any CPU tasks on your history to make a comparison. And are you accounting for the CPU being able to do 24 at a time?

My 3080 GPU is roughly 27 minutes faster. The CPU 3900X (using at most 50% of my CPU so effectively no hyperthreading) runtime 31 minutes CPU GPU run time 4 minutes

In terms of the backlog of results waiting to be validated it would be sped up if would send out jobs with a higher number then _0 on them

Update... For people looking for Astrophysics related projects for their GPU's ...

Einstein has already been mentioned as a home for GPU's

And

Asteroids@home has NVIDIA app's for the following system groups

Microsoft Windows (98 or later) running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU
Microsoft Windows running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU
Linux running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU

Enjoy
Bill F
Pointless as it's no faster than a CPU which is cheaper and uses less power. Put GPUs on projects where they run 50 times faster.

What application?? I assume you mean N-body since that is the only one left and you only mention a cpu.

You probably can find one somewhere in the Top 100 lists.

Yes Keith apologies I didn't say the application yes "N body" I had a look through the "top computer" list but couldn't see 1 at a quick glance

Bringing thread back on topic. It wasn't said what year the separation application shutdown was happening just said June 20th. Perhaps we have another year to go and it will shut down in 2024 :-)
Fool, dates are different in each year, there is no June 20th next year, it'll be Saturday.

So am I correct in saying that next year it will go from 19 June to 21 June? If this is correct this is the 1st time I have ever heard of this happening

Unfortunately n-body and separation are on the same hardware and it is not possible to pull the plug on separation without touching n-body.

If you go into your MW preferences on the web site here and untick Separation it will stop sending them to you. The N-Body will continue on as normal.

I have a feeling the bit above statement was related to the MilkyWay server not a participants profile

We can only hope someone will be kind enough to improve the OpenCL app into something much, much faster than it is right now.

If somebody is able to provide me with the code and tell me where to put it I would be more than happy to do so :-)

I know it's just a few more days but wouldn't it make sense to turn it off now? Seems wasteful.

Although I agree to some extent. For people that are trying to reach credit and other goals I believe it would be in bad taste for them to turn work creation off early since a particular date has been said of Tuesday in June 20

Thanks Tom for explaining and checking what is going to happen with results that are currently in progress when Tuesday June 20 comes

Install latest version Win 10 using your Win7 key. Upgrade won't work anymore, but clean install should.

You learn something new every day. According to a quick Google search I believe you can still use the upgrade option

Hey, it's bad enough we have to look at it in the Joined column on the left. I think it would be just as easy for you if we would have it mentioned as 5/8/23 - 5/10/23.

True for we Americans but Europeans, who also crunch here, might see it as the 5th of August to the 5th of October 2023, using the Scientific Internationally accepted way leaves no doubt as to the meaning of the dates

Exactly Mikey, at 1st glance you do think it is an outage for a couple of months then you remember some countries do their dates do their date with the month 1st when you realise that it's simple.
Interesting thing is the "Server shutdown" never occurred :-)

It's not your life support machine, go do some Einstein tasks.
Thanks for the offer but now thank you. I'm not complaining I was just simply asking a question. I believe it is at times like this the more people that crunch the more you are helping as you help process work that is waiting to be validated these are generally tasks with a number higher than _1
If there are no tasks here, you might aswell use your computing power somewhere else. Stick the other project on priority 0, then it will only grab one task when this is empty.

I don't generally have issues getting tasks. I may come back here after the current challenge has completed. On a side note the majority of my tasks have now validated
