BOINC 6.10.58 would be a downgrade.

Actually, 6.10.58 would be an upgrade. You would be upgrading from a BETA version to a stable RELEASED version.

Guys, after I joined Seti , my MilkyWay stops getting GPU packages.

I unsubscribe Seti and even that way the Milkyway didn't send me GPU packages anymore, only CPU ones...

What to do?

Here the Log :

I already removed all seti stuff, also upgraded my video card drivers, uninstall Boinc client and install in a new different directory and no results.

I removed my Home/Work/School preferences, no lucky.. all the GPU is selected as available for use.

Please help.

Thanks!

Did you check the server status to make sure it had workunits to send out? Was the server working correctly. This is Milkyway. That means you have just as good a chance of the server not working as you do the server working. Right now, there isn't any GPU workunits because the assimalator is on its regularly sceduled coffee/smoke break.

Post:
For the past week I have been receiving "Computation Error" upon completion of all WU's from Milkyway, but, not from the other 5 projects I run. I believe that it started around Jan 25, my Credit/day dropped around 10K and I can't see why, nor remember if anything changed. Running two NVIDIA GTX 280's driver 266.58. Latest error de_separation_23_3s_fix_1_1489687_1296431654 .

Any help or assistance in tracking down the problem greatly accepted.

BOINC 6.12.12 Development version (MAY BE UNSTABLE - USE ONLY FOR TESTING)

You might try upgrading to the stable version 6.10.58

I am seeing new errors in the Event Log in the new BOINC Manager for MW@H project. Never saw them before. The only thing that is changed recently is the new BOINC Manager and Client 6.12.12. I just updated the app for better sharing of CUDA resources among multiple projects. Can anyone explain these errors and if they are an indication of a problem?

I'm sure Slicker at Collatz would be willing to help. He's a wizard at such things.

And, Slicker has been using different cache sizes for CPU/GPU at Collatz for sometime now.

And DNETC has even subdivided it down to what kind (Nvidia/ATI) and model (HD 5XXX and not HD 5XXX) for the type of workunit that is being sent.

So, everything we are asking for, has already been accomplished at other projects.

Don't know what you mean about MW not supporting the automatic backup capability of BOINC. I have Collatz and DNETC at 0% resource share and BOINC pretty seamlessly swaps over to one of those when MW has no work.

I run MW pretty much 100% GPU resource allocation and have no problems..other than MW doesn't have any GPU work right now.

I've PM'd Matt about the work outrage, maybe I'll also PM Travis.

He was talking about having a significant amount of workunits CACHED to help lessen the burden of the very frequent outages.

A 20 minute cache is not enough for this project.

Steve, what year is it where you are at? This thread was started on Dec 24, 2010.

I see where this message is two years old but I am also getting this message on my machine with two basic cuda cards (no double precision).

All of Milkyway's GPU apps require double precision.

But is this a software or hardware issue??

David

(and yes I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is, within reason, lol)

It is more than likely, a software issue.

Building a new (different) server would ensure that they would be able to test it before replacing the existing one.

Also, a new (different) server would reduce the chance of inheriting an old bug from the old server.

Building a new (different) server would also give the admins a chance to incorporate some of the changes that have been requested by the people who support and crunch for the project. Maybe even increase the cache size or other changes.

Workunits waiting for validation 25,208

Here we go again!!

IMO this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Is this an "unfixable " problem??

Apparently it is. I really wish the admins would build a new server from scratch to replace this server.

And yes, I would donate money to the project to facilitate this endeavor.
