Question concerning News forum.
(Message 50288)
Posted 20 Jul 2011 by the silver surfer Post: I don`t know about MW, but I get news items from Aqua, PrimeGrid and Moo! Wrapper too.(Apart of Seti & WCG) So could well be, that other projects don`t use this feature. |

DOUBLE CREDITS Fundraiser - Request for Funding for MilkyWay@home
(Message 50131)
Posted 17 Jul 2011 by the silver surfer Post: ANOTHER APOLOGY TO MILKYWAY ! (and off topic, I know) We had a discussion on a projects`board about creating a list of projects using or not using CreditNew. It was never my attempt to bash any project, especially not Milkyway because I really like Travis and his way of running the project. This list was supposed to be strictly informal. While "googling" for results on this case, I stumbled over this link : Thread Not long after that I received a PM from Blurf, in which he asked me to stop bashing Milkyway. And here is my mistake: Travis TESTED CreditNew, but IS NOT USING it !!! My apologies to Travis, the project, and the whole community. This was false information at its worst ! I know that I`m off topic here, but I guess that a lot more people read the news section, and therefore this info is spreaded as wide as possible. If the mods decide to move it, then please do so ! Again my deepest regret, and SORRY that I posted before verifying the info ! |

At least now the results are staying up a little longer than the last couple of restarts so we can see them a little more easily. hehe......he did a good job on that !! |

Posted 8 Feb 2009 by the silver surfer Post: They seem to be crunching fine, but the credits ahve dropped again. Yes, they are doing fine, I suppose. Credit is now : 4.53 for 418 sec. on Intel q6600 Before the crash it was : 18.12 for 605 sec. on same rig. But nevertheless : THANK YOU, TRAVIS ! Kurt |

Posted 8 Feb 2009 by the silver surfer Post: yeah. our s**t is broke to f**k. hopefully we'll get it working in the next day or two. Travis, just take it easy ! It`s not that World War III started, or the planet is breaking apart - I`m convinced that you`ll make it go eventually, and as soon as the project is up again, we all will be here to continue. ( Yes, me too - I finally have an opt. app. for Windows ! ) All The Best ! Kurt |

Posted 30 Jan 2009 by the silver surfer Post: Well... Please make your complains here... Well, the project is still " Alpha ", and you have to deal with all kinds of changes being implemented........ One thing I don`t understand, is the " no opt. app. for Windows " issue, and therefore I ceased crunching this project, although I`m really interested in the science of MW. Best regards Kurt |

Posted 25 Jan 2009 by the silver surfer Post: @banditwolf @speedimic Thank you both for some clarifications of which I wasn`t aware of ! To bring it to the point : With this credit policy and no opt. app. for Windows ATM, I stopped working for MW. Have a nice day, guys and gals, and a happy debate about DA`s "Cross Project Parity" illusion ! Kurt |

Posted 24 Jan 2009 by the silver surfer Post: Come on Logan, reducing the credit to a half just puts the stock in line with seti AK V8 - which is still too much for CPP. Comparison before adjustment : (Windows Vista q6600) Seti AK V8 : Average. 3660 sec. = 43,76 credits MW stock app 0.13 : Average. 3550 sec. = 39,85 credits Assuming my calculator is OK, they both gave almost the same credits per sec. on my rig. So where was the problem ??? Regards Kurt |

Posted 23 Jan 2009 by the silver surfer Post: I thought this stock "optimized" app. was supposed to be fast. I went from 35min. on the .07 opp. app. to 2hrs 35min. on the stock app.! I thought all you were gonna do was put some tags in the .07 opp. app. that worked and re release it as the "new" stock app. Understood ! The same mechanism as Seti....We´ll just be patient, and wait for an optimised app for Windows, which will come along eventually ! Thanks for the explanation, Travis ! Regards Kurt |

Panic Mode On
(Message 7950)
Posted 23 Dec 2008 by the silver surfer Post: Well, you have to make the best out of this situation, my other 8 backup projects are still there and waiting, all of them very interesting too !! Just keep on crunching ! Kurt edit : 7 projects, `cause RieselSieve isn`t with us anymore !!!
Just making a point that often two projects aren't enough. Murphy has a way insuring that at some point both will be out of work. as you can see by my sig I have more than two active projects and my rigs will stay warm crunching for the others through the drought, no panic here.
Understood, and you`re sure right about Murphy ! Right now 1 of my rigs is crunching the last Setis, another one is set to ABC - enough work for days to come ! Kurt |
