Post:
Hi for the past week I have had a problem with getting the credits for the work done.

Boinc is reporting work done and there is no errors as you can see below:

Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:17 AM EDT Milkyway@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:17 AM EDT Milkyway@home Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks
Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:01:29 AM EDT Milkyway@home Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks
Sun 16 Oct 2011 09:17:02 AM EDT Milkyway@home Resuming task ps_separation_82_2s_mix1_1_3708058_1 using milkyway version 18

This has been the same for at least a week.

credits haven't moved and my average has gone way down.

I think this is a "Just me problem" as I had jobs on the computer when it crashed and I had to reinstall the OS.

System:

-Processor-
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz

-Memory-
2.96 gigs

-OS-
-Version-
Kernel : Linux 2.6.35-22-generic (i686)
Compiled : #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:34:50 UTC 2010
C Library : GNU C Library version 2.12.1 (stable)
Default C Compiler : GNU C Compiler version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5)
Distribution : Linux Mint 10 Julia

Vesion of boinc:

6.10.58

milkyway version 18d-1

I am not really worried about the credits, but if the work isn't being used then that is a concern.

Any help in this matter would great!

See here and my following post. If you want your CPU to do worthwhile work it would actually be the N-Body tasks.

MrS

True but they take like 200 hours to do on this computer:(
working one now.

but it has 960 cores. lol those Teslas are what I am going to put in my first computer I build. Next year I hope.

ok back to the story I can't find a folder just for MW where would it be located on a linux system? and I am so just thinking of running boinc in wine so I can just simplify my life and get the optimised aps to run there what you think?

guess I need some one to come to skype or yahoo and walk me thru the first tar.gz thing because I know all I get when I try is errors so I must be doing something wrong. LOL

Now if there was only an optimized app based on linux that I could use for MW that would be great. lol oh and it has to be as easy to install as the windows one hehehe

What is weird is that 5hrs later the task was complete.
Something is goofy for sure.
I think BOINC has a hard time computing the finish time on these tasks.
The last giant task I had did take forever and a life time to finish hogging all 4 cores for nearly a week. Think that was one of the NBODY tasks on the .82 software.

Now DCF, I don't know that term.
Maybe you could tell me what you mean?

Same here I get 147 hour jobs from seti all the time. I use to turn them back but one day I was bored and just watched the time drop off in 20 minute segments per second or every two seconds it was wild to watch.

Thanks Zy,

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to run the specially hopped up clients for seti and MW at the same time since they and when orbit is online are the only ones that have peeked my interest. on the fiddly part would have been easy in windows just make a bonic2 lol but in lenux well that is a different matter. LOL so that project will be put off the list for now then:) Thanks for the input.

Hello all,

seeing as I leave my computer on most of the time anyways thought I would put it to work:)

so I am running:

Hardware:

Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 900@2.20ghz
on a Toshiba Satellite L355-57915

Memory is 2.8 GiB

For OS I have gone to
Linux Mint
Release 10 (Julia)
Kernel Linux 2.6.35-22-generic
Gnome 2.32.0

Know I have a Intel processor so no GPU crunching:((

So what can I do to get this thing to crunch even faster? (besides get a new computer)

with the preferences page on all the Boinc sites down I can't make any adjustments there.

Is there a way to make it work all 3 of the WU's I have now at the same time?
1 core =6 WU yes?

sol just thought I would say Hi. If you have any suggestions(other than get a real computer) offer them up:) LOL

Dave
