1) Message boards : Number crunching : Run Multiple WU's on Your GPU (Message 65564)

Mikey, as requested.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>milkyway</name>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>0.5</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>0.05</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
</app_config>

I should add that I am sure the cpu_usage line must change which I experimented with and also idented as here and no indentation.

ALl tries came up with the syntax error.

I run MW@h on a linux box and I have just tried using the tweak to run two units on my GPU's. SAdly things did not work out.

Obviously some of the values needed tweaking particularly the cpu figure. Boinc came up with a syntax error on each of my 3 attempts.

I need to change/edit/alter something but i'm not quite sure what. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks

James

I am having the same problem and on initial inspection al the failing units belong in this group:-

de_modfit_16TestStars_1s_132_wrap_1

At least I am not alone and do we know what the problem is?

Cheers

That's interesting! I have just had my PC download N-body version 1.12. Have the developers been drinking TOO much coffee??????

Are there any other modifications on the linux side. I have a work-unit at the moment that has the remaining time increasing steadily. The completion estimates I did yesterday and today at 18:00 GMT both say that the unit will complete well after the deadline date. I suppose that my question is was there a timing issue and why were 1.06 units behaving this way? I do not like aborting a unit and for the first time actually did. The unit I have now I am going to leave running and see what happens!!!!!

To abort or not to abort that is the question? Whether it is nobler in the mind.................?

I have a work unit that has:-

Remaining(estimated) completion : 11455:02:48
Deadline : 14 feb 2013 at 09:47:01 GMT
Elapsed : 10:16:30
Progress : 2.226%

Using the Remaining(estimated) time the unit will complete in approximately 477 days from now.
Using the Elapsed/Progress figures which are a reasonable yardstick the unit will complete in approximately 19 days time.
There are 11 days between now and 14 feb 2013 including today.

While I can accept that some units will be longer or much longer than others this unit is a little strange.
Is there some explanation for the rather contradictory time values.

Thanks

James

I have been having almost exactly the same problem and tried various things to solve it. Naturally nothing has worked as yet! Playing with the permissions of the boinc account seemed a logical step to make even giving boinc "root" privileges did not work.

I suspect a driver issue somewhere along the line and will try using the Nvidia - 310.19 drivers directly as they are not available through RPMFusion yet.

I also run Einstein and cuda works there but for both the cuda and cpu applications the progress bar does not work; it is either 0 or 100%!

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

James
