Posted 3 Nov 2009 by Seejay Post: Hello! Sorry for the difficulties! We had a massive Database crash last night, and we are almost done picking up the pieces. The database was only restored this morning at 5am. Thank God!! You're all alive and well - we were getting worried here for a minute!! ;^). |

Posted 3 Nov 2009 by Seejay Post: Just looked - got a sack of wus, which were validated & credited yesterday, now showing: 156701912 152986469 1 Nov 2009 5:07:58 UTC 1 Nov 2009 8:11:20 UTC Completed, marked as invalid 1,394.95 6.13 0.00 These are obvious errors caused by the apparent DB crash ( NO ONE ACTUALLY KNOWS IF THERE WAS A DB CRASH, OR IF SOMEONE WAS MAYBE PLAYING FOOTBALL WITH THE SERVER, SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO NEWS FROM THE ADMINISTRATION !! ) Yo, TRAVIS!! You there? Why no communication about these problems from your crowd? P.S. Most of my WUs for 1/11 are tagged invalid, and ALL my WUs for 2/11 are missing!! |

Credit lowering
(Message 30847)
Posted 14 Sep 2009 by Seejay Post: The only thing that gets me a little riled up, is the lack of discussion BEFORE the credit adjustment. Yeah, OK CP - I get your point. Only thing is: I'm CPU only ATM, and my CUDA card don't like them new Nvidia drivers!! ;^). Looks like I'm gonna have to stick an ATI card into my old box if I want to benefit from your hard work!! Cheers, Chris |

Credit lowering
(Message 30711)
Posted 13 Sep 2009 by Seejay Post: And I repeat - SSDD Just got to look back at all the 100s (1000s?) of forum posts about credit here @ MW. Trav decides that the project is getting too much flak from DA & the other BOINC projects, so he trims the credits by 1/3. Old story, same conclusion. At the end of the day, as has already been said here, it's impossible to compare one project's credits to another's. Chalk and cheese! The only thing that gets me a little riled up, is the lack of discussion BEFORE the credit adjustment. As Ice says, he's got personal goals based on this project, and it's US who actually do the crunching - therefore, why doesn't the admin here give us space to express OUR opinions before making important decisions? I know this has all been talked about many times. It just seems as though it's fallen on deaf ears... Just my 2 EuroCents.... |

Configuring BOINC
(Message 25821)
Posted 17 Jun 2009 by Seejay Post: If i take control away from BOINC and babysit my PCs very intensely i can do about 180k credit per day. My actual RAC is about 130k, that means BOINC loses 30% and i still have to babysit. If i let BOINC manage things i hardly believe i could keep half of my RAC. You got THAT right, Crunch3r. Maybe "Self Glorification" should be up near the top of the list as well! ;^). |

MilkyWay@Home Progress Report (Old)
(Message 25059)
Posted 11 Jun 2009 by Seejay Post: John, I'm sitting here reading your post and I'm seriously impressed. Very well presented, and especially, very well explained for us non-astrophysicists. I was going to ask the same question, more or less, as Emanuel. One presumes that "fitness" means how close the results from the project are with respect to what we see in the sky, as you mention? Basically, how close to the expected results do the actual results have to be to produce significant data? Cheers Chris |

I also see that all the work that's come my way this afternoon was all sgr stuff. I also noticed that after the presumed reset, available WUs took a nose-dive! Results ready to send 2 Any news? |
