I've gone and cleared things out. But yes, it is a known problem.

Thanks for the confirmation :)

Upon further reading here I learned the validator is having some issues since September. Good to know it's not a hardware issue.

I've started seeing some validate errors popping up on this machine here - https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=592853 Hardware here seems fine, no temp issues, rebooted, fans are working, power supply is good...

I saw another user beginning to also get validate errors beginning on the 27th and the 28th of January. Both systems appear to have been running fine up until these errors started.

Anyone else experiencing any issues like validate errors? Or are these issues normal and tend to happen from time to time?

So far so good. Milkyway@home seperation modified fit crunching with no errors.

Thanks for the help!

Looking at the 30 errored WUs for your machine they are all MilkyWay@Home v1.02 (opencl_amd_ati) app WUs, so it isn't all GPU apps failing you, just that 1.
What you mean I guess is WUs not apps, totally different thing.

If you go to your 'my account'>MW@H preferences >click 'edit my MW@H preferences' >untick 'Milkyway@home' >update preferences then you can run the other GPU app (make sure the others remain ticked & that you have allowed GPU crunching elsewhere.
So you can use your GPU without errored WUs :).

What drivers are you using for your HD 6950?

Still no news from the project folk though!!

Driver package 13.152.1.8.

I'll un-select Milkyway@home and select the other apps and gpu. I don't want to get the other tasks for cpu though. Will see what goes down. Will report back shortly.

I seem to get a lot of N-Body Simulation 1.40 (mt) wu that have 1-2 hour time estimates, then about an hour in, the time remaining starts counting up. Most of these take anywhere from 6 hours to 15 hours to actually complete. They report using 2 or 4 cpu (which is correct for each). I realize that it is an estimate, however I don't believe it is calculating the estimate anywhere near reality. I see this on two machines both running Win 7 (64bit), Boinc 7.2.33 one with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 and one with Core I5 3.1 (oc to 3.7) both crunching multiple projects but only one project at a time.

I have similar issues. A recent task came in at over 6mil gigaflops. Somehow now it changed to 300k or so gigaflops under properties. Been going for over 5 hrs and finally half way done. Clock counting up on time left estimating about and hour now but obviously it will take it another 5 if it's only 50% now.

Under "Tools - Computing Preferences...", near the bottom, what is your "On Multiprocessor Systems Use At Most xxx processors" set to? Also, if you click properties on your task, how many cpu cores are those tasks set to use?

Just got a load of computation errors on these tasks.... is there a known problem with these or is anyone else having GPU errors. Running an AMD 6950 on 8core amd fx8350.

Is there a way, or could there be a way, to select multi-threaded (mt) apps to be selected from the configuration somehow? I'd prefer to run multithreaded app instead of multiple individual tasks. I was only running n-body sims but the work has seemed to run out.

Thanks. Great project going here.

Since i got serious about GPU crunching i always keep one core free to run the cup part of boinc apps,
seti, einstein, milky, (colatz is `just for fun`) and they all work better for it.

With your RAC at the level I can tell you know what you're doing! ;) Happy crunching.

I am running a vishera 8 core amd fx processor with a radeon xfx 6950 graphics card.

If I use all cores for cpu tasks in boic with mw@home it takes forever to complete 1 gpu mw@home task. It also barely utilizes the gpu when looked at in gpu-z. If I free up 1 cpu core, by setting the cpu's used to 99% I can tear through mw@home gpu work units like a maniac. Usually taking anywhere from 36-47 sec per work unit. When I check gpu usage with gpu-z I'm at 100%. I acutally had to increase my fan speed on the gpu because these work units were heating it up something nice :) lol

I can't see why someone would want to run 8 simultaneous gpu based wu's at once... I know my card is no where near a super duper new card, but it's nothing too crappy either.

Is everyone leaving one cpu core free for their gpu work to utilize the cpu when needed? Just curious. I'd love to update to a dual crossfire config with 2 7900 series cards, but I think I'm doing ok at the moment. :)

Hello, I run win7 64 bit and was sent a work unit for de_nbody_105 that has been running for 34:00:32 and is at 19.512% complete. The est run time is 2168 hrs. What do I do with this fella?? I'm not a computer wiz in any sense of the imagination, just crunchin' numbers for BOINC. Any suggestions??

I'm guessing it should finish in about 170hrs or a little over 7 days. That is going by that it took approximately 34hrs at 20% and 5 times 34 gives us 170hrs. 100% / 20% gave me that 5. So you should easily make it by the due date.

Good luck with the number crunching.

Also on ps_plus_slice workunits. same thing. Computes then comes back with a computation error when at 100%
