Can someone tell me why WU 260613394 failed. Is it something I need to correct or a bad WU? I think it's the first opencl WU I have had.

Sorceress--I didn't say we were going to "sweep this under the rug". We are focussing on stabilizing the project right now. It is on our list and is being discussed.

We are in process of trying to work a way around this issue but for now the Posting RAC restriction will be staying in place.

This sounded as if that was your intentions. The fix is easy and installing recaptcha can't be that hard I would think. Please take care of this ASAP.

BTW Can you make the requirements for CUDA a little easier. I can only do the 1.1 CUDA. The 2.3 is out of my parameters. Thank you :)

I disagree.

There have been a lot of spammers who crunch a few WU's to get some credits, stop crunching and then spam the forums. We had a flurry of it here and at Seti's forums as well.

We are in process of trying to work a way around this issue but for now the Posting RAC restriction will be staying in place.

Oh good grief, Blurf. We don't need to hear this. The fix is easy. Get the ReCaptcha program and put it in place. It stops the spam problem (if there IS one?) and keeps everybody happy. Don't sweep this under the rug. Fix it please!!!!! TIA

The projects I mentioned pay better for ME. Your reply to Sailor's post, validates my point. With GPU/CPUs performances all over the map, everybody's facts will be different.

Personally I don't see how anybody could complain about the crediting on this project. Cut it half... still be more than any other project.

My original post was to address the above statement. Nothing else. It has nothing to do with GPUs,CPUs, percentages, power supplies, etc. I simply pointed out that I am complaining about the credit system on this project. MW has set the requirements for GPU computing outside the parameters of my card. Just like Einstein. Fine. But I dont like it. So Collatz and Seti Beta pay me more.

This project has always been whacky and caters to those with high end machines. But dont go making generalization about the rest of us. That don't always apply. I rest my case

What a ridiculous statement. There are many projects that pay a lot better than Milkyway. Collatz, GPUGRID, Seti BETA just to name a few. Check out the facts before you make such blanket statements.

I don't know in what framework you mean this but I'll assume we are still talking about GPU apps.

I run 3 of these 4 (no "Seti BETA"). I'll take numbers from FREE DC as of 10pm central today in the order you listed:

THE FACTS:

Collatz, 1 GTX-260 card + ~25% of the HD4850: 63.7K (avg 52K)
GPUGRID, 9 GPUs, from GTX-275 down to 9600GSOs, mostly GTS-250s: 80K
MW, ~75% of 1 ATI HD4850 card: 55.6K

So let's evaluate/rank these...

My framework is, your facts are revelant to ONLY you. Your statement '...how anyboby could complain..' applies to me. The projects I mentioned pay better for ME. Your reply to Sailor's post, validates my point. With GPU/CPUs performances all over the map, everybody's facts will be different. Your statements assumes everyone else in the world is just like YOU. Ridiculous, yes?

I see many of the projects using the 'ReCaptcha' prgam that requires you to match two words or number before you can edit you profile. It keeps the spammers from posting their crap. Thats its purpose. Einstein and Cosmology are two that come to mind right now. Use it instead of restricting your users. Besides, I've never had a 50 RAC here. Half of my projects RAC are below that as it is. I have ONE old computer! Sheesh!

Like many others here who have complained about the 50 RAC, I am one. I have been a member here for quite some time and I'm upset with that restriction. Milky Way has too many problems with their project to maintain a 50 RAC. I do not run high end multiple computers, I have ONE. I need to edit my profile. You need to figure out a better program to weed out the spam instead of limiting it to a 50 RAC. Set it for a total credit instead. Say 10K or so. Will server the same purpose!

I have 20 wu's with time to complete 0:44 to 1:01. My actual time to complete is 1:00:00 to 1:25:00. All of them are due 02/06. Also I have 6 other WU's finishing in the same time frame. Whats going on here? Looks like some wu may not get finished!

Thank you for the website, Campaign For Liberty. I will join tonight. While I was impressed with Ron Paul, my choice was Mike Huckabe. Keep the faith! Obama is the trojan horse set to destroy our country and take us straight in to socialism. The lines are being drawn! War is coming!

I just wanted to post the 'rules' for these forums. Some of us have gone way past the point of civility. One of my favorite cliche's is 'If you dont like the show, don't let the door hit you on the way out'. What I have been reading is, the credit whores are angry because they aren't going to be able to rape the project like they want to any more so they are trying to 'burn down the house' for the rest of us. I have seen people who have been in this project for 5 months with 5 million credits! Or someone we all know that has been here since 08/08 with 1.2 million. Somehow this doesn't seem 'kosher' in any way.
IMHO their 'whinning' falls on deft ears here. I have been running the stock app since day one and have had no complaints. Credit awards have been right in line with most of the others top projects as far as my machines are concerned. Once a stable opti app is available for general use I will use it.

I feel that each WU should have a fair credit value based upon the work processed no matter how long it takes to process. If your machines are fastert than mine you will get more credit than me. But, I also feel that any app used to speed up the process should be made available to all of us or it cant be used for an unfair advantage. Just like someone who cuts inline ahead of you should be denied. It simply a matter of courtesy. Everyone in a project should work for the good of the project, not for just one person. Just my $0.02

We've survived this far, I think we can make it :D

If this last application update does what I think it should, the application should be stable for awhile and i'll be able to work on the automatic error checking, which will probably make a few people who don't like frequent updates a bit happier.

Ok, I am a newbie here and probably have much to learn. But I have to wonder how a user can have been in the MW project for 5 months and have 1.2 million credits or even 5 million. That's 600k and more a month. Another at 450k for three months. I have been in the project for 16 days, running 2 machines, with 9 other projects with 3,500 credits. Can someone pls tell me how to get the hugh credits. Looks like I'm about 300k credits short for the month! Help!!

Thanks to Caspr I am a happy camper. I detached/re-attached to the project and the new WUs are running well. I had the 1.22 WUs but now I have the Optimized 0.04. After 24mins I'm at 43% complete. Yippee!! Thanks Caspr!! xoxox

Sorry folks, my bad. ;) Was not looking in the right place. I have this option disabled on advice from others as well. OH, and Rick you can some of my WUs. I have way too many to complete in time. After 05:33:12 hrs I'm 33.2% complete on just one. I have 15 more to go by 12.03.08 That's means roughly 16 hr to complete a WU that was suppose to take 08:20 hrs. Is this normal?? Why is it taking so long to complete a MW WU? I finish most of my other projects WUs well withing the time limits. I am at a loss...

Thanks Ice. I just got home and noticed MW is running w/high priority on both machines. Don't know what happened, but its working much better. Noticed also the 'time to completion' is more accurate. I still won't be able to complete much of the WU I recieved. I take my projects seriously and get irritated when I can't get my work done. My older machine trashed the graphics card and it took a while to get a new one. I was hesitant to use my newer machine on boinc but then I said what the heck. Now Im cruching on TWO! Thanks all for the help! Glad to be aboard.
