Posted 3 Dec 2011 by refla Post: hi, everybody, I am translating English to Chinese. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MilkyWay@Home The following text comes from wikipedia: Using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, MilkyWay@home divides starfields into wedges of about 2.5 deg. width and applies self-optimizing probabilistic separation techniques (i.e., evolutionary algorithms) to extract the optimized tidal streams. The program then attempts to create a new, uniformly dense wedge of stars from the input wedge by removing streams of data. Each stream removed is characterized by 6 parameters: percent of stars in the stream; the angular position in the stripe; the three spatial components (two angles, plus radial distance from Earth) defining the removed cylinder; and a measure of width. For each search, the server application keeps track of a population of individual stars, each of which is attached to a possible model of the Milky Way. I can do it accuratly because I have no knowledge about this. please show me some illustrations of the process. best regard |

But you cannot see anyone getting 1 credit. Then, pay attention to computer 58276. Its runtime is zero and CPU time is 195,482.46 !? What happen? |

Why cannot 4850 run WU continuously ?
(Message 32627)
Posted 22 Oct 2009 by refla Post: Hi, John Clark well, that seems I have to downgrade Catalyst to 8.12 :-( I hope it would not hinder CC...... But I insist my point that there is a bug in ati2dvag.sys! Because XP reports 'The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop.', when WMs were scheduled by BOINC. However, if I suspend all WUs of WM, then resume one after the previous WU was completed, thus the question was finally settled! That's why I said 4850 cannot run WUs of WM continuously! I hope Ati/AMD's driver coder could pay attention to this problem. |

Posted 21 Oct 2009 by refla Post: Hi, Bill Thanks for your message :) .... That means : 1. 4850 drived by catalyst 9.x can work. 2. It cannot run continuously except I launch the WUs manually one by one. Why ????? :( |

Posted 20 Oct 2009 by refla Post: Every time, When I resumed MW, I can and only can finish a WU. And then, the video card driver broke down after BOINC 6.10.11 launched the next one WU of MW ! At this time, Windows XP + SP3 turned the screen to blue background and said system was ruined by Ati2*.sys (sorry, I forgot the file name). But if I resumed a WU after the previous WU was completed, they will be done ?! The program ati 2.0b - SSE2 runs on 4850 drived by 9.4 / 9.10 beta with PSU 400 ! This same environment running Collatz C (following call CC) is perfect ! Compred to CC, I ensure my system including software & hardware is ok ! What's going wrong ? Thx ! |

CUDA for Milkyway@Home
(Message 29204)
Posted 11 Aug 2009 by refla Post: When MW will relased CUDA app, all will be clear, We will be able to do direct comparision ATI vs Nvidia.... I attached MW_gpu 3 mouths ago. I have ever recieved any CUDA WU. And now My account of MW_gpu has been deleted by server. It denied my login and refuse to accept I reattach it....... I think CUDA is an impossible mission for MW_gpu...... |

(Message 26880)
Posted 2 Jul 2009 by refla Post: It will come soon, some day, some month, some year. Only Travis knows. But there are enough CUDA projects like Seti/Seti beta, GPUGrid, Aqua ! I have no interesting in SETI. GPUGrid doesn't like my 9600GT has only 64 SPs. It comments >= 96 SPs. Aqua's CUDA WUs have run out! |
