Hopefully, on my computer, I have ssh access so I can reboot easily even if my xorg server is blocking by the driver crash.
The behaviour of the catalyst driver with the linux opencl_amd_ati app is odd because with one GPU, I have no driver crash.
It only happens with two GPUs on the same computer.
Perhaps, the OpenCL multigpu support is only at alpha or beta state not final.

I try to explain what is the problem with my two GPUs configuration ( http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=358617 ).
After several hours of calculation, fglrx driver crashed with "fglrx asic hang happened" error message in kernel log file.
This crash also stop my BOINC client (defunct processes related to CPU project).
For more information, you can look at this bug report .
But with the former Linux x86_64 0.82 ati CAL version (with app_info.xml file), I have no problem.
At the beginning, I thought that it would be a driver bug but now I don't know.
Is it a problem with the OpenCL application ?
I have the same driver crash with the Albert@Home project.

Thank you matt.
I also try the 7.0.12 version of BOINC client which seems to work more better than the 7.0.14.

Now i detach & retach the project.i get the old 0.82ati.
It runs dry and no scheduler request.
What can help?
Greetings.

Same problems for me.
I detach and retach the project repeatedly without any success.
One workunit and after nothing.
I have to detach and retach the project to have a new one workunit.

I have a 5870 ATI GPU on Gentoo Linux 64 bits system with a 12.1 Catalyst driver and a BOINC client version 7.0.14 .

One question managers: why not put in the preferences on some projects as an option to choose between nbody, separation and test application?

It's on my todo list.

When could you do this ?
We could avoid wasting CPU time crunching for ps_separation while GPU could do it, for those crunchers who have GPU indeed.
We could then only use CPU for crunching NBody workunits.

But really, I thought we were going to have OpenCL builds. If you're gonna build new ATI builds, can you build new CUDA builds that actually work too?

The new versions will be done in OpenCL, yes.

Actually, a developper provided with an OpenCL client application for the PPSieve subproject of PrimeGrid.
It simply consist of portage of the CUDA application ( http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=2683 ).
Could it be possible to do the same thing ?
Would you do other things for another research in the Milkyway@Home project ?

Otherwise, what's your situation concerning your Mac computer ?

Is there a possibility to test a linux 32 or 64 bit gpu client app for this project ?
I have an Ati Radeon HD5870 which crunch on Dnetc.
I would prefer to crunch on Milkyway@Home if a linux gpu app has been provided with.

Thanks.
