waaaaa...

If you read about it. He says the other stats aren't changing. This is to see how much of ones credits come from each projects. And everyone can agree with the glut of gpu's recently that they are skewing the stats.

Also sounds like someone is a "little" self conscious about big #'s from very little work!

When I've got a dozen PCs maybe I'll do as much as 'very little work'.

Sorry to skew that stats, but right now I'm spewing WUs for my own and my team stats. Have to catch SETI.USA somehow... :P

No I'm not a "little" self conscious. I could do MW 24hrs and get more credits, but I prefer rosetta, so I don't get a lot of credits. There is a big difference between a Gpu that puts out 50k+/day and a pc that does 1-5k/day. They make the computers look anchient. So think what you may.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Everyone should contribute what they want/can.

That includes the time to build optimized apps, or the cash to pay for components which may or may not capture your imagination as you contribute to the science of this or any other project.

Its the "glut" of new technology has always skewed distributed computing projects, otherwise we'd still be using 486DX2s and Pentium 1s to keep the playingfield level ;)

And Abacus'. :P

Haha yes, well...
[giggle]I was trying to say tho that when distributed.net, seti@home, genome@home etc were starting up, the type of hardware in use was more likely to be a Pentium75 than an abacus [\giggle]

HeHe! Seems I stirred the pot a little! Personally I like my collection of abacuses!

I tried the zslip optimized application in my AMD 5200 X2 - Windows XP 64b but all the Wu crashed.
I'm asking if those applications are accepted by the project administrator !!!
Now I discard those application and return to a normal application.

http://www.zslip.com/

I did the same with a 64bit '03 intel server w/3.0 xeon's and cant get any of these apps. to work so I guess I'll go back to linux and PG.

I guess the problem was that the SSE3_x64 app on zslip.com was actually the GPU app for ATI cards.
Btw, there is a new version of it. I will post it in the code discussion forum.

Thanks Cluster Physik, I'll update zslip.com when I get to that code

[edit] zslip.com is updated with the above

Tryed the app. for 64bit windoz and this is what I get,any ideas?

It is only for 64bits windows and ATI card.

You must to use 32 bits windows app if you don't have. See the zslip.com site explanation.

O'well, Ive tried EVERY app.up there and cant get any of them to work! According to the message tab on my manager I should be using sse2, but it doesn't come up that an "anonymous" app. is being used on that or any of the other apps.

EDIT: Did a little more work and and finally figured it out. Thank for the help folks!

Jord,

You should install the optimised app. Wu's on my P4 3.0 HT are completing in around 18 minutes for the shorties and 25 minutes for the longies.
I dont know whats going on with my 64bit windoz but I cant seem to get the opp. app to work.

Sweet!

Just made the link click-able.

Which one do I dl for 64bit windoz?
Edit: I mean which one do I use for 64bit windoz? sse-sse2-sse3 or what?

The only real issue that a few complain about is the credit given for crunching.

As things are going now, I am content but would like to see the credit back to the recent levels and/or the availability of a Windos optimised client.

Ditto!

I hear ya! I'll keep watching the boards but I wanna get that 1st mil. under my belt! Maybe whenever they get an opp. app. for 64windoz.
I think Dave just put "optimized" there to distinguish it from the older version of the milkyway app (which was quite slow in comparison) -- astronomy_X. I've changed the name in the database so hopefully this will update for people. It should be just "MilkyWay@Home" now.
.......So thats all You're going to do?

anywhere from 40-60 min is about right on the stock .13 app q6600

The times I stated was on a intel '03 server with 3.0 xeon's... quad, kinda.

I thought this stock "optimized" app. was supposed to be fast. I went from 35min. on the .07 opp. app. to 2hrs 35min. on the stock app.! I thought all you were gonna do was put some tags in the .07 opp. app. that worked and re release it as the "new" stock app.

The EST time is now just past 09.15am, which suggests Dave, et al, are in the lab now.

I wonder from when the assimilator/validator script, to detect wrong results, will be run?

SHHHH! Maybe they'll forget! 2 more weeks running the opp. app. and I'll actually have my 1st Mil.!

I'm just waiting on Dave to put the latest windows app on the server. After that goes live I'll make the swap over to only accepting WUs from validly compiled apps.

After a couple days of that so I can make sure the error detection is working correctly and doesn't prevent valid apps from getting credit, that will go live.

Does that mean that wu's after that wont work or that wu's ISSUED after that wont work?

EDIT: If wu's ISSUED after that wont work I'll set to NNW,.. thats why I ask.
