:O Yeah, no new work for me either, checked the server stats and there are no WU's ready to send out...so looks like we cleaned them out...

Guess it full steam ahead for einstein during this drought :/

Hi,

my total credit number is o.k. However, when I add up the credits of my computers there are 40,000 credits missing! On Tuesday I had a major problem with my new MacPro and had to reinstall the system. I migrated all data from a bootable clone. Since that time the 40,000 credits that were done on that computer do not appear in the computers stats anymore although they are correctly displayed in the total credit number.

If you had to reinstall stuff on the computer, boinc included, the computer stats file was probably started new since it seemed that it was a "new" host.

Yes, you and me know that ... however some think i'm a security risk ... now that's why the MACs have to suffer that hard... OOPPPS did i really post that thought ? Hmmm ask the adminstration they can tell you much more ...

Or sign up at my message board as long as this post is still here ;)

Probably thoughts of jealous paranoia on some, pity that Macs have to suffer as a result. But probably not the thread or board to get into it.

[* read all posts on the board you're posting on... and all threads of it!!!]

With the size of some boards that could take quite a while ;)

From what I gather it appears that the OS and whether or not one is running an optimized or beta app that really makes the big difference in times for WU's as opposed to clock drive speed.

Since Leopard is one of platforms that doesn't have a beta/optimized app we are going to have slower speeds for a machine of the same hardware as a general rule of thumb.

Good to see you with this project Crunch3r, I know your contribution to other BOINC projects as been great! :)

My Leopard Mac Book Pro was averaging around 850 seconds per WU. Interesting to see how the other platforms can crunch through WU's quickly...

xp no new work

I can't prove it as some of my systems are not asking for work ...

But it could be that we are running it dry as fast as it generates new work ... I know I have gotten a few tasks from M-Way this morning ...

The problems of popularity ...

hmm...well firstly the assimilator is clogged due to a db_purge. I'll kill that soon. and I think I'll restart the server too if it's acting flaky

Have they dropped Mac's or do they have a big problem on their end?

No we havent. I personally use a Mac. That was very weird. I restarted the server and it seems to be resolved. It's still a little hard getting work though as usual.

Just picked up 20 WU's, thanks for restarting the server, it seems to have solved the issue for the moment :)

Force an "Update" and look at the messages tab and make sure that your system is requesting work ... I have had instances where I THOUGH I should be pulling work from a project ... BOINC did not agree ...

John McLeod VII can explain it better than I can, but, the resource debts can get out of whack and it can take some time to get re-organized.

Ah, I forgot about those darn resource debts. Those must be the culprits, I dropped my Cosmology and LHC projects since I haven't gotten anything from them in a while and immediately got some WU's :)

Guess I might have thrown out of whack the debts while personally suspending some of my other projects the last few days and running only Milkyway

I'm not getting any new WU's even though the server says it has available WU's...

Is your work cache set to high?....5 days or more? Don't have work cache set higher than deadlines. I am getting work on all hosts just fine btw.

My work cache is set to 1 day, and it was working fine all this week before the server issue. I just got one batch of work since then and have none as of now.
