Are you sure that your host is set for a profile (e.g., default, Home, Work) that has "modfits" and "accept work from other apps" deselected?

You solved the problem for me. Thank you kindly; it's appreciated.

I made the necessary changes to (home, school and work) and now I don't receive any modfits.

After I had made those changes I saw, for the first time, under the "primary (default) preferences" that there was a setting "default computer location" which was set to "home". So, I should have read through the settings more carefully and picked up on why the modfits kept coming. A pink or "do better" slip is in order. Lol

Once again, thanks for your assistance. Max

Jake Weiss,

Can you please check and see why Milkyway@Home keeps sending me Modfits even though I have them turned off in my preferences - see below:

Milkyway@Home Separation (Modified Fit): no

If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other
applications? no

The reason I don't want them is because too many of them won't validate and I get no credit for a full run on the can't-validate work units. Thanks in advance.

I'm opting out of modified fit until problem is fixed. Wasting way to much of my GPU's time. You should be giving us credit on the "modified fit" that don't validate because of a problem with the program. We have used our resourses and need the credit.

If you start giving credit for time wasted on a bug in Milkyway@Home's program(s), you'll have a lot of us return and process for you.

I continue to get "An output buffer would exceed CL_DEVICE_MAX_MEM_ALLOC_SIZE" on the de_separation_12 and _13's on my ati radeon hd 4770.

It appears to me that if you just check the code to see why I and I imagine the others continue to get this "An output buffer would exceed CL_DEVICE_MAX_MEM_ALLOC_SIZE", you would determine what the "integral size" has to be set to to avoid the error.

It looks like your [I've stopped the "de_separation_12_3s_sscon_2" and "de_separation_13_3s_sscon_2" runs and restarted them with "3" at the end instead of "2", this time with integral sizes that are the same as the "11" runs. If the restarted runs run fine for you, then I guess the step sizes were the culprit. Let me know how they go for you] has not solved the problem.

I changed the mw@home preferences to not accept the separation wu-s (Milkyway@Home Separation: no) but mw@home is ignoring the "no" and continues to send me the "separations". That needs to be checked into to see why it still sends out separation wu-s when I've turned it off.

Thank you for your time and effort in trying to solve this annoying problem; it's appreciated.

Arkayn,

I finally got around to installing a new driver. The version I have now is Catalyst 13.1. It's WORKING!! Thanks again, Arkayn. Max

Hi

I have an ati radeon hd 4770 which used to run MW@Home (probably been close to two years ago) but now when I try to run Milkyway@Home I get this message: "Catalyst Driver Version is not OK for Open CL application with this GPU".

GPU-Z shows Driver Version: atiumdag 8.690.0.0 (Catalyst 10.1/Vista)

I am currently running Vista 32 bit.

Can someone please tell me what version driver I need and where to find it? Thanks in advance. Max

Will one of you Milkyway@home Gurus please help us out on this "computation error on the ps_separation_82..." I could be using my ATI HD 4770 on Vista 32-bit OS to do a lot of Milkyway number crunching if somebody would give us an answer.

I keep seeing info about app_info.xml and have copied two of the many on this forum and added app_info.xml to path C:\ProgramData\Boinc\projects\milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway but still get the computation errors. I'm not sure I'm doing this right so, please tell me very specifically how to setup (do I just set it up as a text file and name it app_info.xml?) app_info.xml and where specifically to place it; in other words I want the path in it's entirety. Thanks in advance.

I've detached Milkyway, stopped then started Boinc, and attached Milkyway all
to no avail.

SO, PLEASE HELP!!! Frustrated Cruncher!
