2) Message boards : Number crunching : Exceeded disk limit - N-body (Message 62457)
Posted 2 Oct 2014 by Matthias Lehmkuhl
Post:
Hi SuperSluether,
this error is related to the configuration data of the WU/result send from server.
The configuration tells the boinc client how much disk space the calculation will need at most.
So the admins need to check the server settings for these type of WU/result.

Otherwise, the setting helps to identify bad results. And prevent full disks due writing to much data by a project.

This problem does not depend on the application.

here only MilkyWay@Home N-Body Simulation
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=330097&offset=0&show_names=1&state=0&appid=7

this is a result with long time running (shows only round 0.4% after runtime of 1300 sec.)

The two previous results have crashed.

Before getting these results I've done a reset on the project.

edit:
aborting the result causes a crash

I get today only stock app 0.10 for windows 32bit.
They validate, but the application page tells me I should get 0.13.
Any explanation why this happens?

I get these pop-ups all the time with this project. And I do not stop BOINC for gaming (or anything else for that matter). I also do not run it as a service. So whatever the problem(s) is, it goes beyond just stopping the service.

Errors happen, and are expected from time to time. However, these pop-up errors are a real problem, because they impact other projects as well. Because the pops-ups do not release the thread/core until they are manually dismissed. And that means the thread/core sits idle until we happen to notice it, so not only is this project sitting idle on that thread/core, but it also means that none of the other projects can run either.

I had the same Problem on one of my Computers.
resultid=119879
resultid=119878

This results started at the same time on my computer and stopped after an CPU time of 26.9 sec with an Popup window on my Screen. Boinc can't change to an other Project till i close the Popup window.
