One quick/temp fix is to stop all work.

that's a quirk - deleting some accounts would be a fix.

Why GPU Force Tean went from about 5 million credits to 18 million per day?

a little bit of boinccmd and grep - pretty easy to weed out things you do not want to run..

Well, Everyone has his right to 15 mins. of disgrace...

And sending squick WU's to CPU and long WU's to GPU won't solve the problem. GPU systems present themselves as CPU only systems and voilà, there you go. Didn't GPU crunching took of for milkyway this way ?

well - any project opening the door for them cheaters has to face them - they simply cannot withstand to dismantle themselves..

It has never occured to me to pick and choose between WUs to get advantage and perhaps (even if only by default) disadvantage others or the project. But then so many tricks are played, I think it is disgraceful that nobody is telling me about them. A PM will do ;)

you are probably on the wrong team - just managed to dig out something like
"Nowa wersja miodzia podana na internie. The new version of honey given to the interni. 7NBI"

wonder what that was about?

quoting the news: "It was a bit low compared to what you were getting before, so I've upped it to be in line with what it was. However I think we might have to do some kind of credit adjustment because the project's awarded credit as a whole is pretty high in comparison to the number of users."

now that's a new brillant idea - no user should earn more than x credits a day.

already bought the urn to bury your project?

i'd really like to get hands on that stuff YOU are smoking..

Yes, always your position were to punish to the optimizers whom gave you a hand and fix and improve your mistakes...

of course this implies that MW research is as valuable as hunting for YETI..

Now, more than three days later, please look at statistic sites like these:

The SETI.Germany "boycott" is a big fake !!!

looks like SETI GERMANY is crunching more and more for this project.

lonesome DON SAENGER on an impossible mission.

I have 2 PCs. I've been using my Linux box, but it's horrible for Milkyway. I have a notebook, that according to the specs should have almost double the integer speed. Which one is better? Keep in mind I'm running the old app, because the instructions for the new app, apparently don't apply to my version of BOINC/Linux.

as for current credit policy it does not really matter - why don't you set up a virtual box with windoze?

you ever checked if you already have been a prayer wheel in some of your former lives?

I always have this feeling when the credit jerks start wrecking the next project with their calls for unfairness, and that their lovely credit-for-nothing-reserve is going to be normal again start their screaming and shouting.

then it will be easy for you to explain to all those guys out there you're humbly adressing as *erks, why you and those other parity preaches never show up on low-paying projects to enlight the dark corners of BOINCworld with your ever so polite emissions..

Only a fair competition is a valid competition.
If the credit thieves poison the competition with unjustifiable high credits they should stop exporting them in the BOINC framework, as the credits here for example have nothing in common with the other BOINC projects.

you ever checked if you already have been a prayer wheel in some of your former lives?

if not, you are doing your very best this time...

I think pay in all jobs should be equal. Since the US government has set a standard with the "minimum wage" then all employers should lower their wages to the federal minimum wage.

Now how well would that go over??

for me? got my house, my porsche for summer, my subaru for winter, my LC8 for fun, don't pay no rent, don't need to work anymore - should i care?

but retranslated for the project - collecting all those boat-anchors to chrunch which get credited like fast Xeons is a very humble approach - respect!

let's dig out the ancient stuff and waste more energy...

This is absolutely ridiculous. I understand both points of view but...
How is more efficient software any different from hardware? If someone can return a million VALID results a minute what is the difference if they are using highly optimised hand written code on a 286 or big freaking blue to do it? Valid results are valid results are valid results etc.

the problem is that you might be able to buy the latter one, but never be able to get hands on to the first - simply because it's not all about money;)

You keep saying it will make your project look bad.
LOL, I think that about says it all right there.

it tells about lost perspectives - if you try to hide amoung those mediocre ones, you might avoid looking bad - but you'll never ever look great.

Fair dosen't mean every kid in class gets strait A's so as not to get their feelings hurt.

talking about those A-grades - someone comes up to u and offers an optimyzed version of your product beeing 20 times cheaper. you'll find anyone not kicking your aSS bigtime when you go fire instead of hire?

frank.

We're not trying to inhibit progress, just keep the awarded credit in line with what other projects are doing.

if that's your primary goal and not the progress of your project, you'll also be fine with the kind of progress MW will make in the stats over the next weeks.

too many guys competing in this ass-kicking-contest who shot off their own leg at the knee. you're not the first, you won't be the last.

at least someone can add another trophy to his collection.
