Now working with the 8600 again. Poorly less driver, cause the NV driver does not want to install! :-(

(Message 48104) Posted 22 Apr 2011 by Hephaiston Post: Try and avoid temptation of hitting BOINC issues, until you have got the 8600 working the screen, and the 4850 ready for BOINC (or the other way round if you are a Gamer), and both cards with the correct drivers, and recognised by Windows Device Manager as the updated drivers showing there. Thats a stake in the ground, you know where you are then, and can then concentrate on BOINC issues, knowing the hardware is correctly set in Windows. Hang in there - post if issues, always someone on the board will respond to help. Regards Zy Don't get ANY f****g NV-driver installed! grrr Not 270, not 266, not 263 ... what's up? Driver (270!) selected for 8600 GTS XP. The older ones I downloaded the same way. And they worked fine. Ah, wait ... do I have to connect the display to the 8600 for installing the driver?

I stopped all projects, let the last WUs get finished and reinstalled BOINC. => no change 3.) I posted the same problem at boincstats. Followed the instructions of the link Gundolf Jahn gave me using the cc_config.xml I found there. => no change 4.) Remembered, that there were driver problems with any Catalyst since 10.11. Deinstalled 11.3 and installed 10.9. => a) remembered, that this was emntioned within thread Gundolf Jahn linked me => b) problem with the HD4850 solved so far! YEAH!!! 5.) Trying to get the 8600GTS working again without "error while computing" problems! => lets do it ... Edit: The 4850 produces lots of "error while computing" WUs ... damn ... Edit1: The 4850 is now recognized by BOINC. Don't know if it was before but guess not. Installing 8600 now.

If not, try using a dummy plug on the card which is not connected. Directions how to build yourself a dummy plug can be found on the net. This helped for me (2 ATI, 1Nvidia card) No, only the HD4850.

Or even the projects, so that BOINC would work with the AMD GPU, too?

I am guessing that you want to use both cards on various projects so you would really only want the <use_all_gpus> option in the file. Did so. Problem not relieved.

Since the AMD GPU is "working" as primary card, the NV GPU causes lots of "error while computing" messages. May be these 2 problems are relating?

The GTS is still getting work, the HD is not recieving any work from the 20 projects running. the HD is set as primary card, the GTS as secondary. Wheres the problem? My rig.
