I explored the differences among the several SSE flavors starting here.

SSSE3 is probably useless for scientific applications.

HTH

Hi Augustine nice to see you again around,

yes you are right with one small exception, scientific applications with supported code and structure for SSE3 and SSSE3 can get really very much and good performance, what its not the case (even) with the current optimized MW client.

And yes dear Augustine i made the needed changes and tests (ok with a bit of help from some experts) and it works ,much more better it works the spu code for ps3 cell cpu and yes i test it that too, but im done somehow with MW, its too late and disappointed (yes i cant hide it) because the project Administration penalize the improvements!

Have a nice day!

Thanks very much Petros! Works like a charm on the older 64bits!

Now I just need an app for 32 bit Linux SSE2/SSE3.....

Hi, try this both clients for Unix/Linux32 SSE2 + SSE3 !

Download Links

and

Actually I have 2 P4 xeon's at 3GHz and an AMD 4200+ that support SSE3 and are 64bit ?? It must be the way that Petros compiled that App in some way.

So it looks like the 32bit Linux is out in the cold at the moment unless someone feels kind enough to provide a link :)

Hi try this one client for Unix/Linux at 64bit - SSE2 !

@ GlennG & all

My client it's optimized through a compilation for Unix and Linux platforms at 64 bit (SSE3) and without any modifications or changes to the application's code.

The user or the users who released even much faster client(s) for Windows perhaps they can tell us, or help us, or show us how to get there if they want, BUT it looks like for now that some or all of those clients are returning invalid results, at least this is the sense i got from some posts on the forum and the project news on the homepage of MW.

To this last point about the new windows optimized clients i can't take any position and the best we can do for now is to wait until the project Administration it will return in the next days with some specific informations about which optimized clients are returning invalid results.

It will be a really big surprise for me if my MW client will be Blacklisted from the project Administration, because as i said earlier I only compiled the client for a specific operation system and cpus with SSE3 support.

I've downloaded the Intel compiler me too, but i don't have the time to start working on a faster application.
I believe we can drop the crunching time per wu much more!

speedimic ,have you tried to improve the client @64 ?

Quote from a movie,
a guy trying to figure out the game of Bowling.

I think I got this game figured out. You throw the ball down this gully. Then you throw yourself down the other gully, and try to hit them snake-hittin' clubs before the ball does.
