2) Message boards : News : Deprecation of Linux 32bit (Message 63919) Posted 10 Sep 2015 by Dirk Broer Post: Well, 64-bit IS the future -for those of us that have the hardware that is capable of running a 64-bit OS. For those of us who, for nostalgic reasons, try to cling to our old hardware it would be nice when the apps check first for the kernel version and installed libraries, if possible, and then come with a comprehensible advice on how to run the app on that hardware when all is not well. If and when you have 64-bit hardware that does not run on x86-64 architecture however (e.g. ARM64), you are still left in the cold.

7) Message boards : Number crunching : New BOINC Manager = no MWAH WUs (Message 54022) Posted 14 Apr 2012 by Dirk Broer Post: I am crunching MilkyWay on a Win8 Dev 64 machine under BOINC 7.0.15, using a Radeon HD 4770. Because I use an app_info.xml, I have no problems downloading and crunching MilkyWay. I had some days of trouble with Moo! on another machine with a Llano APU and a Radeon HD 6670. Boinc 7.0.25 for some reason could not handle that as 6.12.34 had done before (using two GPUs to crunch 1 WU) and sat idle with the WUs until I wrote an app_info.xml for Moo! Only Collatz seems to handle 7.0.25 good.

HD 5800-class GPUs. Having 154 i7-980s and 616 HD 5850s should be enough for everybody (provided they have more than 640k memory)
