1) Message boards : Number crunching : Proxy filtering of executables - Is there a way around it? (Message 47800)

I'm trying to get BOINC to work behind a proxy that insists on checking all executables (and similar files such as for instance Linux shell scripts) that go through; when manually downloading, this typically means I'm redirected to an "intercept" page where I have to click a button to confirm that I truly want to download the file, after which the normal process resumes for short files (in the browser, this normally means I then pick where to save the download), or, for long files, I get a progress display while the exe is scanned, and then I must click another link to actually get the file.

Obviously this causes problems when MilkyWay@Home tries to download its executables.

Is there a way to configure BOINC so it can use SOCKS connections instead (those are not handled by the proxy), or is there a way for me to manually download the needed files and get work to start processing? I'm pretty sure the traffic of work units coming in and results going out won't trigger the proxy's intervention, as I've got other machines that were "grandfathered" behind the proxy --those have not been able to update their executables, but they're still crunching work units.
