@Verstapp - Hiyah Peter!

As I can afford it I'm equipping the 3 PCIe machines with 4850's and the next 2 fastest P4's with 3850 AGP cards. Then I'll shut all the rest down and sell them off. Simply no point in running 1.4 and 2.4 p4's on cpu only. I should end up with 5 pc's instead of 10 and 3 times my current RAC. And a lot less electric.

Its alright for you millionaires with multiple i7's and 4870's, us mere mortals aren't in that league :-))

Yep, US mere Mortals, Uh huh, I'll be lucky to get a 2nd GTX295 sometime in Maybe 2010(after 3 months If I'm able do It, Just not right away), A price drop would be nice or maybe a used one If I can snag one then.

CRAP!!! Look at the Rigs you folks are talking about, Most would be a dream box to Me.
I gotta try to get 7 more years outta my clunkers!!!

I gotta try to get 7 more years outta my clunkers!!!

Here's what a dream box is to Me:

Asrock x58 Supercomputer motherboard(2-16x or 4-8x pci-e double spaced slots)
Intel i7 920 cpu
6GB Corsair 1333 ram
Thermaltake ARMOR+ VH6000BWS case(10 pci slot capable, 7 pci slot cases won't do with 4 200 series cards)
4-GTX295 video cards
750GB hdd
Corsair H50 cpu cooler
---------------------------(\/Have|/\Upgrades)
Enermax 1050w psu(known to power 4-GTX295 cards I've read)
hdd or two
odd or two

Currently I have two PCs and enough room to hold 4-GTX295 cards(2 per case, 1-16x and 1-4x slot in each PC), But It's just a dream so far. I'm working on the 750GB hdd and the H50, But I have the dmv fees for the car and the taxes for the house in the way 1st of course. I wish I knew of a case that had 10 pci-slots in the rear, that has good air filters and has as much airflow as the HAF-932 case that I have now(7 pci slots).

My last electric bill was 210.00. My house is all electric with a heat pump. I keep the thermostat set at 75F. I work outside all day. I want to be comfortble at home. We are a family of 5.
Today the high was 96F with a heat index of 103. The humidity is terrible here though. Our 85 feels like 100 in the western deasert states. We have severe thunderstorms brewing for the area right now. Maybe that'll cool things off a little.

Here's an article on using 4-GTX295 cards in a PC over on How To Build The Best Folding Rig(Bit-Tech.net). What they mention can be used for Boinc too of course.

Not that I know of, The closest I could suggest is selling off the old parts on a certain website and then turn around and getting something newer.

Mine was $500.00US!!!!

I do have a few pc's on line though, 16 at the last count. There are just too many to keep an exact count. My wife though is NOT happy about the electric bill, although her camera hobby is NOT cheap either!! She just spent $350.00 to get her camera back after it broke! It is a Cannon D40 so was REAL expensive when she bought it brand new 2 years ago, I think. I have an all electric house with a heat pump and I live in Northern Virginia on the East Coast of the US. It is in the 90'sF most of this week but dropping down into the 80'sF by next week. We have not gotten to the consistent high 90's or high 90% humidity days yet!! Those tend to come near the end of this month and into early next month. I keep the house at a constant 72F because we find it more comfortable that way. It is the wife and I and 1 kid who is going to the local Community College until he can get into the main college of his choice. He already has a 2 year degree and is working on his 4 year one now. He works 5 days at week at the local golf course so makes decent money.

He mostly does Aqua and a few others MW is lower on the Rac. (Click on his name) Still a valid question. I have tried to help a couple users with instaling an opti app but they didn't want anything to do with it.

No not that I know of, I do not have all 16 rigs here at MW. I only have my 2 CUDA machines and my 1 ATI machine here. I am about to disconnect the ATI machine though! I have it in a quad core running Win7 and it is just too confusing to figure out what to do to make it work. 15 different threads all with someone doing something different or using a different OS, renaming files but nowhere is there a clear cut thread with how to do it.! My 2 CUDA machines are single core cpu's and I would like to set them up to CUDA crunch only, that is my next task.

@Mikey - even the 3 rigs you are running on MW would benefit from using enhanced apps. It really isn't that difficult to do. Anyone here would be glad to help you.

@Banditwolf - Yep me too, I've been there. It's a shame really, the project would really benefit from the extra results coming in. However if people feel that it isn't for them, that is their choice.

@Mikey - Also you would get more credit as the optimized apps speed up the wus. I would say the Phenom you have would see a good increase atleast. My P4 made a nice improvement from the sse2 version.

My Canon 40D (D40 is a Nikon I think) has just broke. It certainly was expensive when I bought it just over a year ago, and more painful in that the 12 month warranty had expired. But thankfully I got it with a 3 year waranty, which I didn't realize at the time. So lucky fo me. But NOT lucky that these power bills are so high in running computers with power hungry ATI cards. Once I get a hundred billion credits I'm going to stop, I'm telling you.
