Hi, what must I do if I want to run 8 cpu tasks additional to the 3 GPU tasks i have now ? <app_version> <app_name>milkyway</app_name> <version_num>20</version_num> <flops>1.0e11</flops> <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>0.33</count> </coproc> <cmdline>w1.2</cmdline> <file_ref> <file_name>astronomy_0.20_ATI_x64.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>brook64.dll</file_name> </file_ref> </app_version> ----------------------------- any hints are welcome |

You can try using the cc_config.xml with the following lines: If you don't have an existing one you can create it with a simple text editor such as Notepad and add the following lines: <cc_config> <options> <ncpus>9</ncpus> </options> </cc_config> Then save it as *.txt file and rename the filename extension "txt" with "xml". This xml file must be put in the BOINC folder resp. the data directory of BOINC. It should work! ;-) Oh, and you have to shutdown the BOINC Manager before doing this! ;-) Lovely greetings, Cori |

Hi, You can't do anything. It's not possible to run the MW cpu apps along with the ATI GPU app. afaik, the server scheduler needs to be modified to make that work. Join Support science! Joinc Team BOINC United now! |

MW is incredibly efficient on your ATIs, so running it on the cpu is not worth it in my opinion (I know Brian would diagree). Choose any other project which doesn't have a GPU app - they need your crunching power much more. Also check if you need to restrict CPU usage to 7 or 6 cores for maximum GPU performance. On my C2Q I loose 20 - 30% performance on the GPU if I run 4 cpu tasks instead of 3. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

Hi, thank you all for answering my questions :-) After running 3 instances for two days it shows some crashs, I decided to run now still 2 instances. The 3870 runs with a slight ocing ( GPU core clock: 795 MHz, memory clock: 1126 MHz ) and temperatures ~60-65 grad celsius. I switched the two 20cm fans of the case on now. Will see of the app is now more stable. The machine runs under full load 99-100% cpu usage an all 8 cores with seti AKv8. Normally it is not necessary to switch the 2 fans on, but then I got 70 - 78 grad celsius on the GPU (although this is already a good value) |

nice temps _heinz nothing wrong with that especially since all cores do run seti also @frederic check with file explorer if X64 files still available in the system32 map i solved my problem with putting the famous 3 atical*64.dll files into the project map and since then i haven't had any problems running i wonder if you got the same issue i had after a windows update the files where suddenly gone and windows had installed the msupdate version of the latest drivers if you can't find the files go to the ati site download the x64 drivers only and reinstall then copy the 3 atical*64.dll files to your mw project map and probably not have the problem again, also make sure you download the latest Mw app from cp which don't need the amdcal*.dll files untill ati releases a new version ofcourse :D Its new, its relative fast... my new bicycle |

As you CP/Gipsel wrote both MW and Collatz ATI-apps, is it possible to update MW-app to work as well as Collatz-app? With Collatz I am running with Cat9.9 and almost never get display driver resets (jammed up tasks for long times), but with MW this happens hourly. CAT9.5 was working better. So far I have set MW to NNT on all computers. I have also tried to find a good solution to automatically kill the jammed up ATI-app but no good solution found yet. Anyone got this handled in a smart way? |
