I see 6.10.8 has been released and here I was thinking 6.10.7 was working perfectly!

I've looked in the usual haunts for the release notes and couldn't find any. Anyone know what the changes have been?

And 6.10.9 followed just a short while later.

And 6.10.9 followed just a short while later.

But there was no real change between 6.10.8 and 6.10.9.

And yet the question remains the same....

Okay, here you have the changes for 6.10.8 and 6.10.9:

Rom 24 September 2009
- client: removed extra msgs

- client: on Linux, run CPU-intensive jobs with the SCHED_BATCH scheduler. Improves interactive response of system when jobs running. From Clive Messer.

- client: revert [19110]: don't delete files that fail verification;

- client: in GPU enumeration, separate warning msgs from GPU descriptions. Show warning msgs only if log_flags.coproc_debug they might be partly downloaded.

Rom 25 September 2009
- client: for ATI enumeration, use only aticalrt.dll (amdcalrt.dll is old version w/ funky DLL names)

- client: make GPU enumeration warnings more consistent (e.g., "NVIDIA" instead of "CUDA").

- client: Add support for checking for both amd* prefixed CAL libraries and ati* prefixed CAL libraries.

- scheduler: redefine ati class plans again.
ati: CAL 1.0+, amd* prefixed libraries
ati13amd: CAL 1.3+, amd* prefixed libraries
ati13ati: CAL 1.3+, ati* prefixed libraries
ati14: CAL 1.4+, ati* prefixed libraries

- lib: fix build break.

- Commit missing piece of code, I had written them before the first commit.

- scheduler: setup priorites for the ATI plan classes

- client: report the different Windows 7 and Windows 2008 "R2" correctly.

- client: improve ATI description strings (from Andreas)

Tag for 6.10.8 release, all platforms boinc_core_release_6_10_8

======================================================================

- win_build: In the future be very careful about with project you choose to be the basis for a new executable. boincsvcctrl.exe was overwriting the PDB file for boinc.exe which causes all call stack handling code for boinc.exe to stop working.

Tag for 6.10.9 release, all platforms boinc_core_release_6_10_9

So 6.10.9 hasn't change anything to the code, it was just a build change.

Together with the server related modifications this will hopefully enable the automatic download of ATI apps by capable machines, as the client reports now not only the CAL version, but also if you have amdcal* or atical* dlls on your system.

What if I have both ... :)

The more important question is if this will mean that we can stop making the copies ...

Rom was slow with the notes....

Paul, I think it means if you don't have them then BOINC isn't going to run an ATI wu.

Well, it is moot as I do have the copies already and Rom already said that there are server side changes and probably application changes required before .9's abilities will be usable.

I was not planning to make a change anyway ... I am still proof testing 6.10.7 and now have it on two systems (or is it three?) and I am playing to see if I can avoid the most critical of the bugs that UCB probably still does not see as a bug ... (FIFO on GPU tasks causes BOINC to ignore resource share) ...
