Ok, tried searching for a solution to this with Google, not really seeing anything, so here's the issue: When I start Boinc, it only sees 1 GPU, but there are 2 in the machine. This is using 6.10.15 with ATI Catalyst 8.12, both are HD 4850s. In Catalyst, it shows the second card as disabled, but according to the system, it's in there and working. I can see it in device manager (Win XP SP3), I can see it with GPU-Z, and I can change the fan speed with Riva tuner for the second card and see the changes. Also, I DO have the <use_all_gpus> flag set in cc_config.xml, and I see it being read in the messages. I tried un-installing all the ATI software and only installing the device driver, but that didn't seem to do anything. Not sure where to go from here, so for now I'm going to put the card in another system... -Dave |

Are you running a Dummy Plug on the Second Card or have the Second Card hooked to another Monitor ??? |

Tried it hooked to my KVM, that didn't work, so I tried making a couple of dummies, but my local Radio Shack only had 47 and 100 ohm resistors, made one of each, but not sure if they'll work correctly or not, since I've seen 68 and 75 ohm on other sites... -Dave [Edit] I should also note that I don't have a crossfire bridge installed, I'm hoping that's not necessary... |

You only need 1 Dummy Plug on the Second Card, the 100's should work as I use them on a lot of my Box's. You'll have to activate the second Card in the CCC, it should read as a Default VGA Monitor in order for it to work ... Crossfire needs to be Disabled as far as I know. It's Disabled on all my ATI Box's ... |

I didn't see anyplace in CCC that would allow me to activate the card, I guess that's the problem. I see the main one and I see the "deactivated" one, but I can't see any way to activate it. -Dave |

It should be in the Displays Mangers Section, just click on the deactivated one and it should ask youy if you want to activate it ... |

Nope, in that section it only shows the main one... |

Hmmmmm, then I'd say the Drivers aren't installed properly or you can try other Drivers. I run CAT 9.8's on my 4850 X2's, you could try them I guess. |

Poorboy, thanks for all the input. I had read that others had issues with later than CAT 8.12, are you not seeing any issues using CAT 9.8? -Dave |

I'm running 9.8's on all my ATI Box's without Issue except for my 5870 Box's, those have 9.10's right now but still have problems running the Wu's. If your Device Manager & GPU-Z can see both Cards but the CCC doesn't see them in the Display Manager Section then it almost has to be 1 of 2 thing I would think. The Dummy Plug isn't working or set up right or the Drivers aren't working. |

The dummy plug seems OK to me, it's now working on a dual GTX 260 setup. So I guess I need to try CAT 9.8 and see if that works... -Dave |

Well, I got both cards working in a single machine, but I did it slightly differently this time. I took the card out of the original machine (XP 32, CAT 8.12) and moved it into the machine I had put the second card into (Vista 64, CAT 8.12) and that machine sees it and it's seen by Boinc in that machine, too... I'm not sure why, maybe the 64 bit version of the driver works better, or the OS somehow does? In any case, thanks for all the help! -Dave |
