Anyone else have this problem? I've got a 5870 and a 4850 in the machine, and they play nice together up through Catalyst 9.12, but 10.1 it bluescreens as soon as Milkyway starts. If its because of the dual cards, fine, I don't need 10.1 for anything, just curious if this is widespread or if I'm just lucky.

I wonder if it could have something to do with this bug? You could try the hotfix on your 5870 card.

I guess it is possible, but I've not seen any phenomenon like this, it just bluescreens and reboots when i load MW. I guess I should note I'm running 6.10.29 for BOINC. x64 edition, of course.

I am running Catalyst 10.1 on XP x64 with a 4870. It works fine. However I had performance issues when enabling the on board 3300 too so I opted for disabling it. You might want to setup each card on a different machine.

After installing 10.1, boinc was crashing due to memory access violation. Logs showed it was CAL related. Rolled back and everything was good. (Had a similar problem with GPU-Z which seems fixed as well). 4850,275,windows 7 64-bit.

This might do it too, just found this on GPUGrid. When I have time might give it a go:

6.10.31

- client: newer ATI drivers crash if struct_size isn't filled out before the structure is used.

Damn, I read that in the changelog but completely forgot about it. Yeah, trying the latest version of BOINC might help in this case.

I just had the opportunity today to try reloading Cat 10.1.... and it still bluescreened upon loading BOINC. I had MW on Suspend, so I know it wasn't just MW at least, but BOINC itself seemed to bomb it, running 6.10.32. Oh well. Guess I'm stcuk with 9.12 for now. At least that one works.

I may have run across something similar. Was BOINC crashing or the ATI's Catalyst Control Center crashing? Memory access violation or Data Execution Protection?
