Hi, how to setup a backup project for milkyway? On a regular basis mw is down for short times, and mu 4870 is doing nothing. Try'd this: added collatz and set share to 0%, well it didnt work, collatz started to run has a primary project and milkyway (share 100%) was waiting to run...
Help please. Also maybe set dnetz as a backup project?

You will need to update your BOINC Manager to a newer version, they did not really get the bugs worked out on backup projects until the 6.12.x versions.

Yes, I know that they are not the recommended version, but they are just as stable as the the 6.10.58 version.

Install this one...
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.12.15_windows_intelx86.exe

After installation, the projects that you have picked as backup projects will start behaving correctly.

I am running 6.12.15 on my 2 machines and it works just fine.
When MW goes down and I run out of work for it, BOINC then requests 1 WU for my idle GPU.

I use Aqua to keep my CPU's warm when SETI goes down.

You set the share setting to 0 on the project that you want as a backup.

Then install a 6.12.x version of the manager.

Thanks for the info man, but i just upgraded my ati\nvidia rig, and there's no room for the 4870 in there anymore, it's nvidia rig only for now. And since my main ati\nvidia rig's ati card's are 6870 and they dont support dp, i wont be able tu run MW for now.
