Gentle question, as I am acutely concious lots happening in background. Is the server ok or problems? Its been up and down every few minues for 6 or 7 hours now. If its because of background work on server, well understood, but some indication of the work happening or set the server to "down for maintenance" would be extremely helpful.

I've spent hours trying to refill, keep track, switching prjects back and forth all morning and all afternoon so far. A short time out to let all know whats happening, or set the server as "down for maintenace" would aid sanity this end enormously :)

Regards
Zy

Yup same here Zy. Switched to Collatz, now switching back to MW. But I guess we just have to be patient. Blurf did promise "big" things happening so maybe that is part of it. Dunno. I find a few cool beers aids sanity quite a lot ... ;-)

Patient as Jobe, just that my fingers are wearing down at the tips with all the switching .... :)

All thats needed is "down for maintenance" to be set on the server ... then we know, and that's cool, I'll go play tiddlywinks or whatever for as long as needed, no problem.

Set Collatz to project priority 0 on your MW machines, then they'll get Collatz WUs when MW is down. But I bet you already knew that :)

I saw this happening last night, but intermitted WU's went through the line from me and to me. So I left the power consumer running last night (cheaper power rate).

But Zydor, and not to be rude, fiddling all morning and all afternoon...
These BOINC projects are for the idle time of one's pc you know? ;-)

Yeah I did. BUT when MW runs out of work, Collatz kicks in just fine. The problem is that when MW has work again, Collatz ignores it and carries on hogging everything, and I have to manually stop it.

I use different settings on the GPU, the memory makes a substantial difference to me on heat and power, and switching from MW on low memory to Collatz which needs high memory, slow Collatz substantially.

Thought is appreciated though - I'd rather be told things a zillon times and not miss things ... I'm not the sensitive type, although the wife reckons I ought to be more senistive, it would save on the dented frying pans apparently :)

What version of Boinc are you using? 6.12.12 here and it does stop Collatz for me when MW is available (got one paused on one of my machines right now, as a matter of fact).

Only for the 1 WU that's running at the moment (if you have project priority set to 0).

Boinc 6.10.60. Where do you get 6.12.12 from?

Use v6.12.22:

Use v6.12.22:

Ok thanks, I'll give it a try. I take it that's a development version, but no matter.

The site I posted gives all the versions. Yes it's an alpha but is far improved over 6.10.60 especially in regards to GPU support.

Beyond, thats not true. I have mine set at 0 for colatz and get about 8 hours work from them when MW runs out. It will not switch back to MW until Colatz WUs run out.

I could definitely live with that one - downside though is I would probably meet more of those damn frying pans :)
