does this thread strictly pertain to an optimized app for de_separation tasks, or does it include n-body tasks as well? I don't do it for credit, I run Seti for 11 years now and since boinc exists I run seti/einstein/lhc/milkyway only. cool, i strictly participate in those 4 projects as well...though i'll probably join Muon1 DPAD (a non-BIONC project) when i get around to reallocating my resources. |

Would it be possible to also issue a stock app_info.xml for MW@Home? It might eliminate some problems, especially for those of us who are not programmers, as well as helping with any troubleshooting by getting everyone on the same sheet of music. Not sure what you mean by stock app_info. The point is it kind of isn't. Do you mean a template or something? |

The point is it kind of isn't. Do you mean a template or something? Hi Matt, what all GPU-Crunchers want to have is a app_info.xml. Nobody wants to crunch de_separations on CPU if a GPU is available, but disable the CPU disables also the nbodys. So you need some way to make that decision. Using different settings for home/scool/work will not help in every possible situation; other guys want to crunch two wu's at the same time (during calculation of the likelyhood the GPU is in IDLE), so the best solution is using an app_info. But it's not easy to compile a good working app_info. You need al lot of numbers, there are a lot of possible arguments also. This is why peaple want a app_info, which gives them the ability to decide, which type they want to crunch. There is another easy way to solve most people's problem. Add a checkbox to the personal settings 'Run CPU-Apps if GPU-Apps are available?' This enables the crunchers to set 'Use CPU' to on, getting nbody CPU and de_separations GPU wu's only. And there is no need to update the app_info if the version changes. Alexander |

At any given point in time, MW has a number of computational campaigns underway, each with its own app. Some benefit from the GPUs, some don't. I'm not a programmer. I don't know the syntax or information required for an app_info.xml. Basically, since I have two machines, each with dual Fermis, and 16GB of DDR3 RAM and both AMD HexCore machines, I'd like to be able to run at least two WU's simultaneously on each card to more fully use them. Why tie up the machines on CPU WU's when GPU WU's are available? And why run just one WU at a time when the Fermi's can handle multiple simultaneous WU's depending on the cards GRAM? If the MW programmers could provide an approved app_info.xml based on whatever the computational apps are, then the user would be able to use their machines more efficiently. Also, if there was a problem, you'd know it wasn't the app_info.xml. Thanks, Steve |

Any update on the opti app?I'm planning on a release for the first week in June. Any news yet? Having it before the double credit would be nice. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Working on it. The outage made it kind of hard to test anything.Any update on the opti app?I'm planning on a release for the first week in June. |
