I just downloaded this update. I usualy use my PC and BOINC in a non-admin profile for which I do most of my web surfing and such from. Now this new BOINC is bitching and complaining about not being in a non-admin profile and wont let me manage boinc. I wish I had not upgraded. Can someone give me the skinny on how to fix this as I took a poke in admin mode at the preferences etc but didnt see anything useful and I really don't have time to dance with this. Thanks. 32bit Windows XP Home AMD Opteron 180 ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard Nvidia 450GTS GPU 4GB DDR Memory |

I removed the new version and went back to 6.6.38. It has the option on install to allow all users to control BOINC, something the new version doesn't have. I'll have to stick with this until they put that option in. 32bit Windows XP Home AMD Opteron 180 ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard Nvidia 450GTS GPU 4GB DDR Memory |

It's still there, on the same screen that lets you choose rather or not to use the screensaver. Don't use the express install. If you want to use the newer features you'll have to use a newer client anyway. 6.12.22 is the latest and more bug free than any of the 6.10.xx clients IMO. |

Do you know offhand if 12.22 still tries to start DP GPU tasks on SP GPU's? <edit> Well, I got adventurous and tried 12.22. Does anybody really like the way the new deault manager works? Personally this might be the worst new feature ever, IMHO. |

Agreed, it's not the manager's job to start the right task on the right processor, my point was that you can't organize the panes in any given tab the way you can in just about any other Windows app, including spyware! ;-) That's not saying a lot about the overall quality of what we are getting out of Berkeley! :-) <edit> Don't get me wrong here, you guys have done more to push the envelope of what's possible on the BOINC DC platform than any other project I've run, but those Berkeley guy's aren't listening to the problems you've found. And I'm not seeing much indication they think those problems are important. ;-) <edit> For example, the current MW app is fully capable of deciding whether it it can run or not. The problem is BOINC tries to run it on the wrong class of GPU regardless. If there was a way to put it back in the queue (when it detects the capability error) instead of aborting, that would be at least an acceptable way to workaround the problem. IOW's triggering a cascade failure is unsat under any circumstances in this day and age, period. |

It wont let me use the old one anyways. :) 32bit Windows XP Home AMD Opteron 180 ASUS A8N-SLI Motherboard Nvidia 450GTS GPU 4GB DDR Memory |
