Hi: I know you folks are great at helping-out those of us who are "casual" crunchers and aren't hardware types. I have undertaken a video editing task that is going to require a video and memory upgrade. I'm going to 64-bit and an extra 4 gigs, and am looking at a card that will do what I need, which this one will, and Milky Way, Einstein, and SETI as well. Looking at a PNY GTX 560 from Newegg at $185 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133397) Looks like it would be entry-level for crunching, and an affordable price. Asking for any comments anyone would care to make. Is there a cheaper bang-for-the-buck card that would do Einstein & MW, or is this one about as cheap as I can go? Thanks, Pete[/url] |

For crunching any NV cards smaller than the GTX560 don't make much sense, if your system can take it (power supply, case cooling, space). I wouldn't bother running Mw on it, though. The ATIs are much more efficient at MW, while they can't run the other projects. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

Thank you! 550W PS, plenty of room in the case & lots of ventilation. |
