Message 53288 - Posted: 19 Feb 2012, 11:06:55 UTC

I got a virus warning on one of the milkyway files during a scan and deleted the file and reset the Milyway project but now I get the following error message "2012-02-19 11:51:34 [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/milkyway_separation_1.02_windows_x86_64__opencl_amd_ati.exe"

Do I have to reinstall BOINC?

No just do a simple Reset in the Boinc Manager, you might lose all of your existing units but they aren't working anyway.

Reseting doesn't work and updating to Boinc 7.0.8 didn't help but running Poem@Home seams to work fine.
I guess that the message "2012-02-19 12:51:54 | | [error] Can't create HTTP response output file projects/milkyway.cs.rpi.edu_milkyway/milkyway_separation_1.02_windows_x86_64__opencl_amd_ati.exe" indicates that the error is on my side. Any ideas what to do?

Yes it means no more MW crunching for you for awhile! You are now using a Beta version of Boinc that is NOT supported by MW. Yes I know Poem REQUIRES it but they are one of the VERY few projects so far, eventually all projects will but not yet! You CANNOT simply downgrade from the version 7 series either, it requires a full uninstall and then a complete reinstall of the whole Boinc software, losing ALL units in your cache in the process! Units downloaded with version 7 are NOT compatible with version 6! Being on the cutting edge can be dangerous and when the ice breaks you can be out there pretty much on your own. Your ice flow has broken off and you are adrift, Poem will LOVE your contribution and MW WILL miss it, but it is what it is.

Problem solved. Rolled back to Boinc 6.10.60, reinstalled Catalyst 12.1 and rebooted and now it finally works. I have also made a virus scan and had no warnings this time. The virus warning I had before was "2012-02-19, 09:40:41";"NT INSTANS\SYSTEM";"IDP";"Process MILKYWAY_SEPARATION_1.02_WINDOWS_X86_64__OPENCL_AMD_ATI.EXE was detected."

It would also be better if you excluded the BOINC data directory from your scan as the AV software can corrupt work as it scans.

Plus it also sometimes pops up a false positive on a completely safe app.

Yes, but on the other hand they can be infected. ;)
And as long Boinc are not running during the scan and no virus are detected the files should not be altered.

The theory on excluding Boinc is that as long as the virus stays within Boinc no one cares, but as soon as it tries to come out of the Boinc directory it would be caught by your A/V. This would exclude all the false positives that seem to occur frequently with the Boinc files.

Arkayn tells me that MW DOES in fact support Boinc version 7, right now version 7.0.15 is the one that seems to work. Some of the other Boinc 7 versions, such as 7.0.8, have work fetch issues.
