I saw according to statistic, that M@H is running now. I let crunched ati (3850) to solve GPU units over then year. Boinc 6.12.34 (64bit) don´t receive any more GPU units. I start to change ati catalist. I tried 11.12, 9.3 , and 9.1 for now. Sometimes I got message like "current catalist don´t support M@H, but not now. -- still no more work. GPU units for Collatz conjecture works perfectly. Could you advice me that version of catalist I have to use or how solve it? Thanks Win 7 64bit. |

I believe the ATI HD3850, with the right drivers including the AGP hotfix, cannot crunch Milkyway, but is OK at Collatz and Moo!. It is now too old for the current application client Go away, I was asleep |

You´re saying that application for M@H has been updated with requirements for newer technologies that even ATI HD3850 (express 16x 2.0 (not AGP)) can´t hold it? It this just your logical idea or do you have any inner information? |

Read this thread for more information... I believe you can use your 3850, but you have to run the old 0.82 app and use an app_info.xml file. |

I´ll use this thread, becouse of full of staff initial for this problem. You´re saying that application for M@H has been updated with requirements for newer technologies that even ATI HD3850 (express 16x 2.0 (not AGP)) can´t hold it? Strange. I did everything what they adviced on your link. in order I uninstaled boinc manager and catalist/driver then instaled ati driver + catalist: Catalyst 12.1 driver - Upgraded to 7.08 client. then I used http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=59 then I followed orders inside. (Shut down connected client, act) then pushed to buttom for a new work. (info about missing exe file appeared in manager) Someone else on your link had same problem. I folowed next instrucion about to switch to 0.82 version. I downloaded exe file from:"http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/" I chose this on: "milkyway_separation_0.82_windows_x86_64__ati14.exe" (becouse of my system) then I edited "app_info.xml" file for a new file. (As you know just rewrite name of exefile on two places) Of course I didn´t forget to disconnet of current client and reset of manager during switching application. Then I let to download a new WUs again ..... and nothing happend event after repeate of last step. All advices from your link runed up. Do you have any other or can you see my mistake? I can´t. Thanks EDIT: oooooouuuu after several dozent minutes M@H started to crunch gpu units. I still have everything set up for 0.82 version, but in manager is 1.02 ver. (who cares... it is working.. this fine) Thank you for your link. |

EDIT: oooooouuuu after several dozent minutes M@H started to crunch gpu units. You are very welcome. Glad to know that you are back in business. Well done. :-) |

It's a bit of a workaround for 3850 cards but it can be done. Happy crunching! Don't drink water, that's the stuff that rusts pipes |

I´m so glad that there are guys to be ready to answer and help with all kind of troubles around crunching.... Btw happy crunching twice literally, becouse I prepared my PC to crunch 24h a day (no fans and SSD inside :) ) I just love science and everything around it. |

I´m so glad that there are guys to be ready to answer and help with all kind of troubles around crunching.... BE CAREFUL with the SSD! They are VERY sensitive to how many times you can WRITE to them, you hit the magic max number and poof the drive is GONE!!! There are write caching programs that can DRASTICALLY reduce the number of writes. By default Boinc does one very 60 seconds!!!! |

Do you actually know someone, who "killed" his SSD by writing lots of data to it? I don't, not even thru any forum. Everyone is in panic, when they should write something to a SSD, even not one died for them or anyone they know. After years of complaining about how short lifetime HDDs have, suddenly they seem to last forever when people want to camplain about a short lifetime of SSDs. |

There were a couple problems with some of the earliest SSD drives having relatively short lifespans, but the technology has improved considerably since then. A good SSD should last for many years without any problems. |

A good SSD should last for many years without any problems. Exactly. I don´t scare of limits of rewriting on SSDs. I bought Intel 320 128GB, which has 5000x rewrite to every memory cell, others SSD has "just" 3000 rounds.(still far more then neccesary) At the same time. Intel has the furthers technology for write algorithm on SSD to keep him alive as long as possible, when free space is low in nowdays. Let´s count for 5 years long live. (I don´t except longer required time.) (128GB*5000)/(5*365) = 350GB-write a day. Try it.... lol There is no need to worry about it. :) I´m not first who used PC just with SSD. Total quiet PC is fine at work. |

'Know', not personally, but I can read on the message boards of people who have and have posted possible solutions. But if you are okay, then let's just move on, hopefully it WAS an issue and is NOT one anymore! |

Wonder if the current situation is related to the challenge, or coincidence? It's been blissfully rock solid for many weeks now. |
