Thank you Raistmer. Suspending/resuming mechanism should work properly when battery level will be proper. Probably, you have device with buggy (or incomplaint) battery level. I can prepare workaround for you device. Can you explain what accurately happen when you plug or unplug your device? Please write whether BOINC client can detect your battery (simply look at messages: should be written '[battery detect] I found directory ...'). PS: please update boinc client, I published new version (with fixes for resuming/suspending). |

1) Being plugged device shows full battery level with lightning sign. But sometimes I notice very short period when icon changed to greyed with question mark. I think it's very same time when BOINC do suspend/resume. So yes, perhaps something wrong with device battery level measurement as whole, BOINC just reflects it. 2) When I remove adaptor battery level remains maxed then gradually discharges. I saw no suspend/resume so far being battery-powered (except case when battery almost discharged of course). So, issue connected with adaptor plugged. 3) Yes, device detects battery properly. Used "dump to SD card" feature, here full startup log on that device: 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Starting BOINC client version 6.12.38 for arm-android-linux-gnu 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Libraries: libcurl/7.21.4 OpenSSL/1.0.0d zlib/1.2.5.2-motley 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Data directory: /data/data/sk.boinc.nativeboinc/files/boinc 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Processor: 2 ARM ARMv7 Processor rev 0 (v7l) @1400MHz 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Processor features: swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp thumbee vfpv3 vfpv3d16 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] OS: Android: 2.6.32.48-cyanogenmod 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Memory: 436.29 MB physical, 0 bytes virtual 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Disk: 1.84 GB total, 1.40 GB free 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Local time is UTC +4 hours 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] No usable GPUs found 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [Milkyway@Home] Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [Milkyway@Home] URL http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/; Computer ID 453024; resource share 100 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] URL http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/; Computer ID 36652; resource share 100 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] General prefs: from WUProp@Home (last modified 06-Jun-2012 01:07:45) 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] Host location: none 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] General prefs: using your defaults 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Reading preferences override file 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Preferences: 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] max memory usage when active: 218.14MB 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] max memory usage when idle: 392.66MB 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] max disk usage: 1.40GB 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Not using a proxy 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] [battery detect] I found directory:/sys/class/power_supply/battery 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] Restarting task wu_v3_1340211602_128869_0 using data_collect_v3 version 334 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] Sending scheduler request: Requested by project. 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [WUProp@Home] Not reporting or requesting tasks 25-Jun-2012 02:10:35 [---] Authorize monitor access 25-Jun-2012 02:10:36 [WUProp@Home] Scheduler request completed Will update to new version soon. |

Did "update binaries" - no updates so I'm on latest perhaps. Will see if suspend/resum appear again. But MW still refuses to ask for work :( Only WUprops working.... |

And another autostart-related problem: today I ran many games on that device for child. After gaming session I discovered that NativeBOINC doesn't run. Looks like it's Android feature - to silently kill background apps if there is memory shortage. Maybe it's possible to detect such kill and do restart when free memory amount increase? Or, as another possibility, maybe to add another option "lock app in memory" ? AFAIK Cyanogen mod offers "locking" some of own interface in memory so maybe it's possible for other apps too? |

Ok. I can add new option in Local preferences: 'run always when plugged'. It should resolve your problems with buggy battery level. I observed problems with autostarts at OS botting in the HTC Wildfire (old pure smartphone with slow CPU). I solved this problem by making second trial of the starting BOINC client (10 second after first trial). I can add next trial (if needed). Await new version today. |

Ok. Now new version available (with new option: run always when plugged). You can try to run in your hardware. Update boinc client and NativeBOINC. note for you: you can use option 'Save to SDCard' in Boinc logs screen (simply after pressing menu key). Dumping whole boinc directory is not necessary. |

Updated to 0.3.9.9.1 and latest client, enabled "run always when plugged", will see what it give. But with latest client it still doesn't ask for work on MW project. Is it possible to do something with this besides detach/attach after each finished task? |

I did detach/add project... and this time even that didn't help. You can check whether you have installed binaries for these project (Installed binaries in the Native client). You can also found following message in the boinc logs: This project doesnt support computers of type arm-android-linux-gnu. When you find these message it mean, that you dont have binaries for MW. You can install binaries without detaching project by using 'Update binaries' option (also in Native client screen). Ofcourse, finally you can install binaries via 'Updates from SDCard' option. Probably, you have problems with client monitor (responsible for automatic binaries installation and client event handling). |

You can check whether you have installed binaries for these project (Installed binaries in the Native client). You can also found following message in the boinc logs: "Update binaries" says "no new binaries" MW 0.4 listed in binaries along with boinc client itself and WUprops project binaries... But BOINC behaves as no anonymous platform used for MW... |

Perhaps I need to reinstall NativeBOINC. Cause now it thinks that binaries in place though they don't. |

OK. In the tomorrow, I will be working on these issue. You can also reinstall BOINC (option in the Native client) or simply reinstall NativeBOINC. Seem, you have broken installation (I dont know why ???). |

Seem, you have broken installation (I dont know why ???). "Reinstall" helped. Now I have 2 MW tasks. The possible reason of broken installation: tablet locked up few times before doing MW tasks. I even had to decrease its operating frequency from stock 1GHz to 913GHz (and not sure that this value will be stable enough). Maybe some of those hangs corrupted data in MW directory... EDIT: I still use both its CPU cores for MW tasks. If this config will be unstable I will go to 50% CPU usage. |

Just to throw some 'good' news into this thread... I am successfully running MW@Home on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet. I downloaded the binaries from the link in the first message; did an install...which downloaded an update... Then attached to Milkyway and I was off and running. The only issue (very minor) I've seen so far is that every time I shutdown and restart the tablet it seems to generate a new host number...not sure why, and not positive that's actually what's happening. The main symptom is that boincstats.com shows all work done on the tablet was done 'yesterday'...and rolling each 'yesterday' forward as time goes by. i.e. only one day of history shows, and all work was done that day--yesterday. I also don't have a usable proxy on the tablet to connect from work...but since WUs take more than 12 hrs each (two run at the same time on this tablet) with normally two queued up, I can do all my network communications at home. I couldn't find any proxy set-up routines in NativeBoinc. |

Situation repeated. NExt pair of tasks completed and again BOINC doesn't request new work. Detach/add project helped, next 2 tasks recived... Host: http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=454110 |

Samsung Galaxy mini errored its second task. It ran it to completion and then computation error was reported. Same as before(http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_thread.php?id=2896&nowrap=true#54857) - it can't compute integral. Is it possible to fix this issue or I should just remove MW project from this device. FYI, this device perfectly can finish computations before deadline. P.S That is, NativeBOINC can be used w/o any issues in auto mode only for WUprops on G-tablet and for nothing on Galaxy mini (it has too low free space for too high WUprops requirements). MW project has issues on both devices unfortunately. |

So it asks for new work when finished prev 2 tasks? W/o detach/attach? |

Actually he has even a small cache, ATM of this posting he has 4 "in progress" tasks in his task list. According to the times, when the tasks were assigned to his tablet, his client is requesting them as "normal" BOINC does, i.e. when the cache gets below the threshold. |

Hm.. what can be wrong with my setup then?... |

1) Found what was wrong: CPU tasks were disabled in web preferencies! Now tablet downloads task w/o problems. But this rises another question: should BOINC download CPU tasks on project attach if project preferencies say "don't download CPU tasks" ? BOINC obeys... but only when first tasks already downloaded. Don't know if it's specific to NativeBOINC or BOINC in general. 2) Galaxy mini continues to fail tasks. Form last one: suspend activities Is it possible to fix app ? Ot, if this hardware unsupported, to make the check in the beginning of computations. Currently it computes ~ 2 days before failure. Better to know about incompatibility earlier. (So, I do detach from Galaxy mini for now. Looks like there is no available projects for this smartphone currently). |
