I just upgraded from a GTX560ti to a GTX670. Link to computer below. There seems to be some sort of issue. The old 560 could crunch a GPU WU anywhere from 330-410 seconds. This new 670 only crunches a WU in about 810 seconds. What is going on here? Clearly some setting must be off. I have not done anything as far as optimization goes in boinc. BOINC version: 7.0.28 GPU driver version: 301.42 http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/show_host_detail.php?hostid=458226 Also, I have seen people on here talk about having 2 GPU WUs crunch at the same time. How do I get that to work? |

Just check GPU-z and when crunching a WU, the GPU is only using about 40 percent. How do I change this? |

You changed from a card with low DP Performance to a card with much worst DP Performance, that could be the cause ;) Dont have an appinfo ready for MW with 2 or 3 WUs at the same time. But someone will write something down im sure. But dont expect wonders in performance. Thats nvidias way do told you to buy a tesla card ;) Not everything thats new means automaticly faster under all circumstances. DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

Jon, you can change the "Frequency" under "MW@H Preferences". In my computer (GPU isn't used for graphics, it's exclusive to Boinc), the best value is "5" instead of the default "60", resulting in lower time to crunch and less than 1% of CPU usage. Frequency (in Hz) that should try to complete individual work chunks. Higher numbers may run slower but will provide a more responsive system. Lower may be faster but more laggy. |
